When you return the call it is a recording that claims to be Bank of America. And it asks for personal information.  I called Bank of America customer service and they claim to not be making the calls.  I would suggest NOT giving out ANY personal information and disregarding the calls.

I get several of these calls daily and it is getting very very annoying.  Any clues on how to keep them from calling or to block the number?

This is just ONE of the MANY of the calls that begin after 8am every morning and around 8-9pm.  Now that I have found this site, i am going to begin to trace all these numbers and find out if ANY are legit.

Tell ya what tho, I will hang up directly on those messages that say "all our representatives are dealing with other client..please hold..." CLICK,  at least now i can see who it is!!  ****fingers crossed****

This is a scam in hopes of trying to squeeze out any info from you at all.

They will ask these following variation in order to "Change their system error"

    Social Security Number
Bank ID and Number (sometimes even pins)
    Driver License
    Date of Birth
    Full name
    etc.

I highly suggest reporting this number to the authority.

So, I called this number back after they called for the second time today.  It did as the others said, beeped twice and rang to another extension.  When the person answered and said they were from card services. (No company, but they did end up referencing the last four of the card from Bank of America)  They asked for my account number, I told them I did not have it.  Then asked for the phone number they called, I gave it to them (they obviously already had it).  He pulled my info up and told me that I was late on my payment.  I told him that I was not, I paid the min. payment on the statement and I wanted to speak with someone else.  I was transfered to a female and she again asked for my account number, I said I don't have it.  Asked for my S.S.N, I told here that I would not give that info out and she said she understood.  (I have NEVER had any company ask for my full S.S.N. over the phone!)  She asked for my last name and I spelled it out (only 5 letters) and it took her 3 min. to spell it correctly!  I started to use A as in Apple, to get her half way spell my name right.  Then she told me nothing was in her system.  Well if nothing is in there, why are they calling me?  I told her that if she can't pull the info up than they can just mail me something.  She hung up the phone before I even finished the statement above!

Of course this is a scam!  I just don't know how the first guy knew so much about the account from a telephon number.  Maybe someone is working on the inside to get info.  Whatever is happening, they need to catch these people.  I will alway check who is calling before returning these calls!!!

Wow I didn't know this site existed. I typed in the STUPID number that keeps calling me and this came up, awesome. Yea I owe B of A some money on my credit card so no doubt that's them calling. Like everyone else they don't leave me a message and when I answer I hear absolutely nothing. No fuzzy noise no nothing. Doesn't even sound like I answered the phone. So the simple remedy is to PAY OFF THE CARD! Easier said than done though, right? haha

I am pretty sure it is Bank of America since the calls started when my payment to them was late.  What is annoying is that when I answer the phone no one responds, and when I am not home they leave a blank message on my voicemail.  I have a log of at least 11 calls in the last week.

According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 U.S.C. 1692(d), Section 806 (http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpa/fdcpact.shtm), conduct which "causes a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number" is harassment or abuse.

I think that anyone who is getting these calls should start recording them (the date and time, and what happened).  These calls are AGAINST THE LAW.  We might have a class action lawsuit on our hands.  You are especially entitled to damages if this has hurt your life in any measurable way (for example if they are disturbing you at work or are causing emotional distress to your family).  The only way practices like these stop is by fighting against them.

You would think that a company calling for collecting a debt would leave a clear message regarding the reason for the call.  I get these calls at work, on my cell phone and at home all with the same result - Someone saying "Hello, hello, hello.." then hang up or no message at all.

I just called the number and a rep. from Card Services answered. She asked how she can help me. I said your company continuously calls my cell phone and no one leaves a message. The rep. asked how long I've had that cell phone number. I said oh around 10 years (which is true). She asked if my name was Patricia. I said no (which is also true). She then asked for the last 4 digits of my cell phone number. I gave it to her. She said that they have been trying to get a hold of Patricia and apologize for the continuous calls and will delete my number from their list. Well, only time will tell if she really does it.

Fairly sure this is Bank of America, or rather a collection agent (CA) contracted by BoA. I'm in a billing dispute with them, they claim delinquency. This is the third CA number I've seen in the past month, and has so far only tried twice since the weekend. I had no contact, only collected the CID.

Similar to a California CA, (at 626-666-6754) reports on this firm tell of aggressive skip tracing attempts, such as requesting full SSN and data no bank needs, like a driver license. Some of this, and the vagueness of caller identity, can be explained by an FDCPA injunction against any collector blabbing too much about dirty laundry in its efforts to reach a debtor. The idea is to keep your debt issues private, so they are required to mask themselves to some extent. The backfire from this is coming off like a phishing scam even if the reason for calling is valid. The rep often can't tell you who she works for or the reason for calling without linking you to identifying data, which you in turn may be reluctant to reveal to a stranger with no stated agenda.

You have to decide for yourself how much to risk in these encounters, but I would say even if you know a lender is chasing you there are some things they have no business asking for, particularly through third parties whose privacy protocols are unknown. Now if you challenge a CSR from the lender directly and she claims ignorance of the calls, she may be technically correct if not functionally. The bank is not calling, just a firm hired to make collection calls. If said firm is being very pushy, logging a complaint with its client couldn't hurt.

THIS IS A SCAM!!! IT IS NOT BANK OF AMERICA!!! They call and do not leave a message, or if you answer they hang up. The purpose is to get you to call them back. When you do so, the number is clearly forwarded. A recording says it is Card Services... (For what Bank?). I have banked with Bank of America for many many many years, and never have had them contact me in such a manner. When the person arrives on the line, they ask for your name first. If you say you have received calls from this number and are not sure why, their next question is, "WHAT IS YOUR ACCOUNT NUMBER?". This is a scam for you to contact them and basically spill all of your account information to them. When I told the woman "RITA" that I knew my account with Bank of America was in great standings, and that they have confirmed the calls from this number to be fraud, SHE HUNG UP!!!! So, what official bank would hang up on a client... Wack!!! Dont call them bank, its SO NOT LEGIT!!!
