I wish I knew who these people were.. they have called me 4 times today and it's only NOON! If anyone knows who this is please post something!

Stephens and Michaels Associates are the people if you google that name or search this site, you will find many folks are dealing with same thing. Still looking for more answers! Hope this helps!

They called me as  well left a message on my machine wanting to speak to my husband. It was a womans voice calling herself Daisy Cox...from Stevens and Michaels ASSOciates....they got the first 3 letters right  of associates...they keep changing their name from law firm to associates...to trick people..total scam...please ppl send no money..let them threaten all they want..its totally BULL Sh*T!!!

These people keep calling us about a debt collection.  We do not owe anyone and have a CLEAN credit report with nothing outstanding on it.

Caller intentially muffles their identity and does not Name a  specific person they wished to talk to. I get emails that says to "undisclosed recipients" which are nigerian scams. So when they don't ask for a particular name then they must be a scam as well. My research shows they are scavenger collectors -going after debts that are of ALL people with same or similar names to see what sticks or who they can stick it to.  Those debts are well past the Statute of Limitations. I owe no one as I am going through an approved repayment plan under a legitimate CCC Agency for past 3 yrs and NEVER missed a single payment or even late. I have this only and about 13 months more until finished. Pretends to be attorneys and is a licensed (CCA )Commericial Collections Agency in Florida  
Lic # COM0900117  License expires 12/31/ 2010  and has PH listed with the State as (603) 328-2800 and shows with State a city of Rockingham, NH.  7 Stiles Rd, Salem NH 03079. (888-340-1740 but calls from (866)788-9612. Co. name Stephens and Michaels Associates.

To clarify-- The debts are possibly not even yours but someone with your same or similar name (somewhere in the USA) Check your State for the Statute of limitations for collections.
Try www. Clark Howard .com. He's also on Atlanta radio and some others . Web site allows you to ask a question of one of his staff aand THEY WILL REPLY.

Received a call on 11-03-10 at 10:55 a.m.  When I answered, there was no response, then call was disconected.  I believe this is harrassment and this company should be sotpped.

Yea this number they say are Metro company . They have people find you if you owe a bill they call all numbers that you have had since you where 16. They look for family .  But i wounder if they are telling the truth!!! I just called and they picked up!

pipl.com - you can probaby find their home phone numbers and call them.  I am sure they would love the conversation over dinner.

They called my home saying they are a law firm, Stevens & Michaels.  They asked for an ex-boyfriend from years ago!  I said I haven't seen him in years and had a restraining order on him, why are you calling my house.  They lied and and said he provided the number...[***]!  He never lived at my house, nor has had my number.  So then she asked for my ex-husband!!!  Incredulous!  Haven't seen him in years, and another lie stating he provided my number.  I reported a complaint to the FCC.  It looks like they have several complaints/lawsuits against them for unlawful collection practices.  They might buy old debts and try to collect on them by cross referencing anyone who ever knew the people they are looking for.

I keep receiving calls from this number but the only time I picked up, someone hung up immediately and they never have left any messages - which they would if they were legitimate.  After reading the comments I will ignore any future calls from this number.

When I get calls from these numbers, I put into my contact list and name them "don't answer." To date, I have 15. Now I can just ignore them when they call.

The above # is the one that has been calling the last 3 weeks at least once a week. They leave no message. When called back, they ask if you are the person they name in their message, if so, please press 1, if not please press 2, then they ask, is the person they name available to come to the phone, please press 1, if not, please press 2, then they ask when is the person they ask for going to be available even though you have already pressed 1 to say you're not the person they have asked for in their automated message. Then you get connected to a person, at which point, the phone gets hung up on them.

Last year, at around the same time,  my family kept a log of 20 or so calls received from this same or similar #. They refused to identify themselves when asked for full disclosure of Company name, address, phone #.

I believe it is nothing more than a sweat room set up each year to harrass people around the holidays. They represent themselves on the web as a collection agency, so they are not lawyers, just a bunch of scumbags with nothing better to do.

They are bottom feeder collectors.  Not even a real agency.  A family owned ome-based business that hires people to "work from home online".  Make collections calls for a commission, from your home.  One of those get-rich quick scams to get people to make all their calls.

They are buying old debt from medical offices etc. Debts that the hospitals wrote off instead of writing down when the insurance companies paid the full portion allowed under their contract.  A simple clerical error that never got fixed properly. Then the hospital sells it to an outside company (like this) for a fraction of it's worth to one of these bottom-feeders which puts some money back in the hosptials pocket to cover losses.

So these guys pay pennies on the dollar to buy the debt, then try to locate the person and collect the whole thing.  That's how they make their profit.  They are not attorney's as they say.  They are a registered independant collection company.

They also call from a # ending in 9630.  They are trying to collect on a 4 year old debt for a 12 yr old foster child.  The hospital did not file their claim with the states' health plan in a timely manner, so they were denied payment.  I guess 1 year to file wasn't enough.  Since I was only her foster parent, I had no financial responsibility.  Now I have these $#^*&#&^ perstering and threatening me.  Offering me "deals".  Hummmmmm........Deal or no deal?    My answer "NO DEAL!"

these fools contacted me a while back demanding I pay a bill they claimed I owed from Verizon Wireless.

Long story short- I recorded the call on the first contact and asked for a debt validation letter for which they refused to send blah blah blah. They were deceptive and rude. I filed with state attorney and ftc. They had to reply to the state attorney and told them that they had 0 proof of the debt and had nothing to send out, even though during the call they repeatedly claimed it was mine and that I couldnt dispute it .Well I did dispute it and they closed out my account because I was aware of my rights under the FDCPA etc... I also posted a video of their egregious behavior on YOUTUBE  ----

Dont be afraid of these people. Record everything and file with your state and FTC.

Oh yeah, be aware they have multiple addresses and numbers. I sent them a written request for validation of a debt they claimed I owed. I had to send it out 3 times to 2 different locations just to be safe. In an unrelated court case, Stephens and Michaels claimed they never got some of these types of letters so I made sure I sent mine by certified mail and 2 by snail mail so I would know they got it.

Protect yourself against people like this.

this number has been calling my mom in kansas. I haven't lived with her in 15 years. I also get a 785 number that is from lawrence Kansas. I have no resent debts with anyone at this time. I want them to stop harrassing my mother. she tells them everytime they call that i don't live there.

these people called my number looking for my son-in-law for debt collection. i called him gave him the number,91-866-201-0940)  he called it and they wouldn't give him any information as to who they were calling to collect for.

Who ever Amanda is she must have really ran up some debt and I have a feeling she is still giving people her old cell phone number. I have had this number for 2 years now and I am getting call from debt people looking for her. I tell them this is not her phone. They have the nerve to ask me if I know her. I say NO. I tell them to remove this number. I think the more it is removed the more calls I get. I have a son with autism and I am not about to change the number because he hates change. I try to ignore the unknown calls but I get some of them at work. I would suggest Amanda pay her bills!

Talk about HARRASMENT!!!!!!!!!  Stephens and Michaels Associates  is VERY  BAD
