This is a SCAM.  The call is a robo call claiming to be the IRS.  When you call back you are greeted by Agent Harry.  He will have your current phone number, Name and Age.  He stated that I owed $3700 to the IRS from my taxes in the years of 2008-2012.  When I questioned him on getting a letter, he hung up.  I did try to call back (ok I wanted to mess with him), he stated do not call again.

Thank you.  I got home and had the weirdest message from this number, like a draft letter  The IRS has decided to initiate legal proceedings against "YOUR NAME"
I would have worried all weekend about the IRS making some sort of mistake I was going to have to spend time on correcting were it not for these postings

The are pretending to be IRS.  They say you have a warrant and the police can pick you up anytime.  They said they are watching your bank accounts and told me to go to the bank and withdraw 1790.00 in cash.  They said the federal agents would be watching me and they would tell me what to do next.  All the time I was supposed to have the on the phone.  Somehow the call was disconnected and they called back with emergency 911.  She wanted to know where I was and I told her on my way to the police department to verify her story.  She hung up.

2nd time we got this call.  Had name, address, etc.  Said they were initiating a lawsuit against me and if I did't pay $4280 immediately they would send the sheriffs office to arrest me immediately.  I told them it sounded like a hoax to do what you got to do they hung up.  I called back to mess with them but got answering machine that said it was the IRS.

OK. Got the calls. Figured out it was a scam. But what puzzles me is how they got my phone number which only recently I did give IRS for a legitimate issue AND since they are pretending to be IRS, and say they are IRS, why hasn't IRS and our ever vigilant Attorney-General, Eric Holder, shut these people down and put them in prison? I strongly suspect that their is a leak or mole inside IRS giving out information including un-listed, private phone numbers.

Received this call stating name was Howard Jones (very heavy accent) with the IRS and provided me with a "badge #" when I asked for one.
Told me I owed the IRS thousands of dollars for fraud betwwen the years of 2006 - 2010! Wanted me to verify my SS# - so I asked what # he had - he insisted that I had to verify my SS  - that I had a warrant out for my arrest and they were suspending my bank accounts and putting a lien on all my assets and they would suspend my drivers license for up to 5 years! He again demanded me to verify my SS - again I asked what SS# he had - he then said he called the police to come to my location and arrest me! I said sir you understand that verify means - you give me a number and I tell you if that number is correct - he could not do that and said that verify means to give him the #!!! He put his supervisor (also very heavy accent)  on the phone I told him I was not aware of any issues I had with the IRS and I felt certain if I owed them any money I would not receive my Income tax returns - he told me I was ridiculous and the IRS could not hold your refund checks even if you owe them money (LOL)- He too demanded my SS# - I then told him I did not believe anything I was being told and would await the arrival of the police and turn this phone number over to them to handle and I was ending our conversaton - which I did all the while still hearing persistence that I verify my SS# immediately ------ I did try to call the number back and it was a recorded message stating I had reached the I.R.S. -----------Lord help us all!

After I asked the person on the phone some tough questions he admitted that it was not the IRS. I told him that he was a low life scum bag and he said that he was looking for "idiots" like me.

I called him back and said that I was going to steal some money from him now. I auto-dialed him back about a hundred times   and every time that he answers and says "IRS... IRS... IRS, hello are you there..." I laugh my ass off. It's become my hobby now so I think that I'll continue doing it whenever I have a free minute for the next few days.
