Got a message from Dan... no company name left. Said he hated to be the bearer of bad news but that if he didn't hear back from me today, my "account" would go to audit tomorrow. No idea what this means.

I also received a call from "Dan" who said my account would be audited if I did not call him back by Tuesday. It apparently is a bill collector. They don't leave the company name or what debt it is that they are trying to collect. They walk a very thin line trying to sound like they are an attorney's office and dire consequences if you don't return their call. And they do a good job of hiding who they are as there is no address associated with this number that I could find on the internet. And there is a reason for that. If you have the company address and write to them, you can request that they not call you and only communicate by mail to you about the debt. Very shady company. The Federal Trade Commission has a web site that will explain what your rights are.

Dan from "no where" left me a message stating I would be audited the next day if I didn't return his call. He did get my first name correct but was way off on my last name. I have a listed phone number with my correct last name in the phone book! Who, where and what are these people????

perhaps if your debts were paid, you wouldn't receive calls of this nature....  just a thought.

why pay something you never owed in the first place.

credit cards are "money on account" they want people to pay them back with "money of exchange" its which is illegal if a dispute letter doesn't work using a bond which is "money of exchange" will.

fyi money on account only exist on paper, while money of exchange is what you walk around with in your pocket.

They are out of New York, and Dan is just trying to intimidate you. It means nothing, they have nothing, just anouther Debt Collector. Simply send them a Cease and Desist Letter and they cannot call you anymore.

REceived a call 2x from them and returned their call.  They were looking for someone with the same name as my husband but they had a PO Box number, which we don't, and they gave me the last 4 digits to the social security number of the person they are looking for.  Obviously it was not my husband but can they just throw SS# out like that?  Advise to everyone...ask questions so you are not paying someone elses debt and read over the law reguarding collections of debt.  You will be suprised how many laws these people are breaking.  They have to id themselves at the beginning of the phone call, who they are collecting the debt for and the amount.  The also have to provide you this info in writing within 5 days.  Use those 5 days to your advantage by calling to confirm the debt with the original party and sometimes they can pull the debt from the collector.

Robo call seeking someone who doesn't live here. Caller name is spoofed.

"This message is for _____ Jimenez.. if you are not ______ Jimenez please hang up now".  Machine recording has called us several times.

i just called this mercantile adjustment bureau , it first rang in as a fax tone, but i got thru at 130pm on a friday. i get a woman who i explain i work for a local telephone company as superivisor and would like my customer to get off their calling list.. the woman transferres me right away to a supervisor , who came out blazing angry and mean, and basically disregard what i said , and yelled at me,  "tell them to pay their bill" i said it's not me, it's my customer wants you to stop calling them. again , even louder , 'tell them to then pay their bill" and hung up.. no name was given by me of which customer i was talking about.   very bad !  this is a great site, thank you . educate yourself! .

Unknown company whose name is spoofed as "800 Services" on my Caller ID. They keep seeking someone who doesn't live here and have made threats when informed that they have the wrong number.
(I've only had this phone number for 2 months, since signing up for VOIP service).

Scammers?....they are probably PHISHING to get you to pay for something you do not owe, or steal your identity IDENTITY....report them to your State AttORNEY GENERAL....the phone company...the Federal Trade Commish-FTC.,....the FCC.,>>>FEDERL COMMUNICATIONS Commissh...

In the end this may also be a JOKE or a SCHEME-PLAN to aid LEGISLATION further enslaving a FREE NATION....IF you allow it YOU may DESERVE IT...but they are stealing TIME and causing many of the defenseless older persons undue fear...

I received a call from 866-839-7277 today. I am currently job hunting and have had problems after submitting resumes online with proprietary school admission representatives calling me trying to push their programs, so I always ask them to leave a message. The person said his name is "Dan Decker" and listed this phone number to call. I asked him if he would like to leave the reason for his call and he stated, "No, just tell them to call".

As with the other people who have posted, Dan did not leave the company he was calling from or the reason for his call. I do not have any business with adjustment company I have seen other people mentioning. I also find this very suspicious.

Thank you to the others who have shared their experiences. In today's world one cannot be too careful regarding the phone calls they receive. I personally do not trust anyone; If I truly have legitimate business with a company I would expect them to send a letter!

A robocall system that spells out a name if the system can't pronounce it. Then a prerecorded message recorded by a male to indicate that "this is Roxanne Santos" (really...a guy named ROXANNE)...cool I guess. The message continues that you should call back...blah blah blah.  Some silly collections agency trying to collect on something probably older than dirt at this point. Ignore the message and delete it. They can't do anything.

Life is too short to entertain this type of game, I received a called today from 866-839-7277 but I chose to block this number out!
