Got the call at 10:30 the night of the election. Was already in bed but saw it as missed the next day. Wonder what area 866 is from?

Call came in on cell at 12:25pm today.   It actually said it was a collect call from the Oakland County Jail, which IS the closest jail to me.  I did not recognize the recorded name and it was going to charge me $9 and some change to accept!  What a scam, a jail/prison SHOULD show up on caller ID and will not be this number for a collect call for "up to 20 minutes" as the recording said.  
Someone posted on another 'missed call' board that they called this number back and it was a collection agency for jails.
I will be mentioing this scam to a college instructor of mine on Monday, she is a police officer in this same county.

I have gotten this message on my voicemail saying I will not be charged for this call. Not sure who it is coming from. I have received this message at least once everyday for the last 4 days. I have not answered because it is a number that I don not recognize.

Correctional Billing Service:
It is a collect call phone service for use by INMATES in hundreds of different "correctional facilities"(JAILS)! They bill the call recipient $9.00 for up to 20 minutes of talk time. If you ignore it then you won't be charged. If you're getting repeat calls it probably because some fool wrote your phone number on the wall at jail.

You cannot block it. "Do Not Call" Lists don't help. Do not answer, do not accept the charges, you'll get stuck with the $9.00 charge probably.

8:07 am. Called my CELL phone and left a message.. only a partial, but it was a male recording saying something about 20 minutes and a charge, then cut off. I had no idea what it was about so I looked it up here. "Correctional facility??" I don't give out my cell number to anyone but close friends, so this is obviously a scam, as I don't know anybody who's in jail right now. My phone only listed the number, not who was calling. And I didn't recognize it.

received the call saying it was from Pulaski County Detention Center.  I hung up.  It stated - if I accepted I would be charged $9 for 20 minutes.  Looked up detention center online - nobody I know listed there.  Will be call BBB.

I got a call from it today, but i missedit. there was a short part of a message saying something about 5-20 minutes to talk but it cutoff in the voicemail. I didn't know who it was but i thought maybe it was my friend calling from jail because he was aressted two nights before. Is this real or just a scam? I hate the 9 dollars thing, but do want to talk to him.. I don't know if I should answer..

This number is an inmate calling. It does charge you the $9 because they are calling you on collect call. If you get a call from this number you should answer to hear the name of the person trying to call because it may be someone you know. It only charges you if you decide to accept the collect call.

I went through this..You call your local jail and tell then you are getting these calls and you want them stopped,they have the information for you to stop these calls, and you tell the company you want a block from anyone calling from there service number,and they can put a block to where no one from jail can call you on your number you give them...But if you have someone that happens to go to jail they will not be able to call you...I did this by getting very angry and calling the Wardens office...I have not got a jail call since....

Got several calls on my cell phone and did not answer the call due to not hearing the phone ring.I don't know anyone in jail and want this to stop what can I do?

I have gotten this same call for 4 consecutive days now what county is it coming from anyone know? I'm in saint clair county would it be this jail? Or would it be closer to the city

I just got the call today from Madison County Jail and told me someone was in jail that I was related to. I thought it was my Uncle because he had a DUI several times before so I pressed 1 and it said it would charge me 9.99 for the call so I hung up. I thought the county jail would be from a local number but it wasn't. Will I still be charged if the call only lasted 41 seconds? Was this a scam and will it happen again?

Just got two calls from this number on my cell. Funny thing is, only my husband and 4 of my friends have this number and i just got this line 2 days ago.
Called at&t to ask if they could block this number, they told me i can block up to 15 numbers, but they'd charge me $4.99 monthly. I guess i will go with my accept only "calls from list" feature on my SonyEricsson...

Got two calls from this number last night at 3:55 and 3:57am.  I did not answer because I did not know who it was (and it was the middle of the night!!!) and only got "...you will not be charged for the call" left as a message.  Defiitely some sort of scam...and an annoying one at that!

I'm on day 2 of receiving these calls...  the calls tend to come in pairs.  As described, the voice mail message states something about not being charged - its a fast voice.

i got a call from that number, it was a friend, he is in DJJ. how can i reach him again?
it cut us short. it said 20 minutes it only gave me like 10 and then it hung up on us.
is there anyway i can call back?
