Report a phone call from 866-854-5359 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- TexasReceived what appeared to be an automated call with both a male and female voice for my daughers; left a message that it was imperative to call and a phone number without any additional information.
- SomeoneCalled approximately three weeks ago and left a voicemail message, but not to me. I could just hear and male and female in the background, and it sounded like he was training her to make calls or something... and he sounded rather upset.
Update: 8-31-07 - I receive another voicemail, again during lunch, and again the same male voice. He identified himself as "Greg Williams" and stated that he had some "very good news" for me. I did not, nor will I, return the call. I will, however, be pursuing this issue through another channel. - DavidGot a phone call from "greg williams" and said he had very good news for me. I did not return the call, but he called again the next day, saying he was from a collecting agency called "capital collections." He knew about a dental bill that we had in may, but we thought it had been taken care of through insurance. I told him I will not give him any money until we talk to the dentist office. He said he would send me an email with the copy of the bill, but that has yet to show up.

- ABe careful. This is the number "Chris Smith" asked me to call, although the number on my caller ID was 501-762-0257. Cursory googling reveals that they are probably a shady collection agency trying to collect on invalid debt. Because this sort of thing happened to a friend of mine, I've already researched it, and I found that there are several companies out there trying to collect on either imaginary debt, debt that has been paid, or debt that is out of the statute of limitations. Some of them buy debts for pennies on the dollar and intimidate people into paying when they aren't required to pay or have already paid. Since they buy them so cheaply they can make tons of money collecting on only a small fraction of them, and they usually break the law and/or lie in order to collect.

- Jeff DanielsI would like to know exactly when a debt isn't a debt? Is it when you have gotten a service which cannot be reposessed and was given to you in good faith and you just do not feel it is within your budget to pay it because you may not be able to go out to dinner with friends. If you feel this way you are a DEBTOR and you are part of a huge problem that plagues the rest of responsible society. Debtors cause the cost of medical and other services to rise because they feel entitled to have their debt written off and absorbed by society. And by the way Insurance filing by your physician is a courtesy! If you choose not to follow-up and make sure payment has been recieved than that is your problem, your debt and YOU signed a contract saying so. I work for capital accounts and we DO NOT BUY DEBT that I know of and these people who have posted here are slanderous and are debtors of the worst sort. There is never a time that you do not have to pay back a debt not when the statutes have run out, not when it is off your credit report, and especially because your insurance didn't pay it, unless you declare bankruptcy or you have proof that the debt has been satisfied. I am a strong advocate for the return of the debtor prison, then these attitudes would be different and I would imagine these bills would be getting paid. After all it would be extremely difficult to repo your Kidney because you didn't pay for it. Have some respect for yourself and others and pay your bills...
- ChrisMr. Daniels,
I have also received these calls from numerous individuals from your company and to follow-up your statement I also believe in a society where a debtor is held liable.
But Capital Accounts in no way follow proper procedures when collecting debts.
My bill came about when my dentist double billed me for crown work, as I have 2 insurance companies. I saw what happened and notified both insurance companies concerning the fraud. They both rescinded the payment, though I felt this was justice, I have been left with the bill. My primary insurance company has said they will pay the bill if I submit directly. I contacted the dentist and have been told it is in collections. I have since contacted Capital Accounts on numerous occasions to send me a copy of the bill. Yes I will gladly pay it if I can get a copy. Nothing, no bill, not anything. So without proof of a bill how can I get my money back from the insurance company? I have had Mr. Smith yell at me on the phone when I simply asked for a bill.
I will continue to fight Capital Accounts, and have asked the credit bureau for assistance in relieving this claim.
I also question the ethics of CA and believe that there is a place in prison for companies like yours, maybe a creditor’s prison. By the way my history in the healthcare field I know that you garner 20-40% of a debt dependent upon age and amount.- Caller: Capital Accounts
- Mrs JessieThis GREG WILLIAMS sure does get around!!!! He has left several (too many to count) on my home phone to call him, he has great, important news for me!!! What a crock!!!
866-854-5359 is the number he left. - anonymousI also received a call from Chris Smith at this number saying it is imperative that I call him today at the above 866 number tho the caller ID showed a 314 area code in Missouri. Very glad that this thread was started, I will not be returning the call.

- anonymousI contacted this number in response to a collection notice regarding a dental bill from 5-6 years ago. The dentist never notified me that there was a problem with the insurance, never sent a bill. When the dentist office changed hands several months back, they called about this 5-6 year old bill. I explained that I had never been billed by them and had never been notified of a problem, and since it was beyond the time limit allowed for filing with my insurance company, I didn't feel I should be held responsible since it was their error. They assured me they would look into the problem and contact me within a few days. They never contacted me again but have apparently turned the matter over to collection. When I called Capital Accounts and asked for "Chris Smith" (the name on the letter), I was told he was not available and spoke to someone named Eric. He was unbelievably nasty, insulting, abusive, you name it. I'm filing a complaint with the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals (of which Wesley Shutt and Capital Accounts are a member) and I'm consulting my attorney.
- anonomus2Greg Williams called me from 866-854-5359 stating that he had some great news for me. The call rang on both my work and cell phone simoutaneously! On my cell phone it showed up as a call from the state of Nevada phone number 702-987-4858. He's definetly a bill collector for dental offices.
- cindy bammelhow funny. I ran across this web site. Twice Greg Williams call me from number of 866 854 5359 and left message on work and home. He said he had good news for me and to call him only to find out he was a collector. He has misrepresented collection agency by violating secesion 807 10 Fair Debtr Collections Practices Act. He has also violated the mini miranda act which clearly states that any collector must indentify himself, company and why he is calling.

- lisaThank goodness for google-I received several messages from both Chris and Greg in the last couple of weeks and was hesitant to return the call because the messages were so vague: Chris, "important matter concerning you" and Greg "I have good news"-neither said who they were calling for, and they required a return call during business hours. I was hesitant to call them on my work phone, assuming they had caller id, and I didn't know their purpose. I do have some debts that I am working to pay off-and have had problems in the past when a firm that I had made monthly payments to for 4 years sold off my debt to another company that wanted payment in full immediately-not a problem at that point, except that they had "lost" my previous payment history and wanted the original full amount. Thus, my caution. As it turned out with Chris and Greg-it was a wrong number. They harrassed me for 2 weeks, and it turns out it was a dental bill for someone with the same name as mine, but different birthdate and social security. The thing that worries me? My number isn't listed under my name. How did they find my number except through the credit bureau-but not notice that the social was wrong?
- BrianThis isn't a collection agency, it is a pure scam operation.
I got a bill in the mail today from Sprint, regarding my cell phone account. The bill said that I owed $25,167.00. So, I called the number on the bill, it had recordings that sounded like Sprint, but it was not Sprint. I determined that after I'd entered my cell phone number (which means these low lifes capture my cell number), then waited online forever.
Then I went to the Sprint website, and called them. They called foul on the bill. So I'm handling that...
None the less, within minutes, I got a call from 402-408-3653 on my home phone; which immediately disconnected when I answered. Then IMMEDIATELY after that, the same number called my cell phone, and left a message telling me to call 866 854-5359. No name, nothing.
But a simple search shows that it is the bunch of low life con-artists at "Capital Accounts". This isn't even a collection agency, as shown by the fact that they sent out a fraudelent bill. I have a background in law enforcement and telecommunications, and I'm going to be taking the steps dictated by such a felony, as these low lives are committing.- Caller: They were too scared to say
- AndrewGot the Chris Smith call on company voice mail. I could tell it was a recording becuase the message started as "chris" was in mid sentence.
he says he has some good news and to call so we can resolve this... yeah right. - Death on a BicycleGreg Williams has some good news for me. His news is so good he didn't even know my name. Not the first time I got a call like this. Funny that many of them come from around the Chicago area as the Caller ID was actually a Northern Illinois Prefix : 847.305.4179.
I think Greg Williams can't find a real date and this is how he gets himself off. Yeah Greg, calling you right now. What did I win? A trip to Libertyville? I hope that you'll be winning a trip to Marion Prison there in Illinois. Then you can change your name to Grace Williams as you become your cellmates Beyotch for the next 10 to 20. - JudyYep me too.. got the voicemail from Chris Smith.. did not say who in the household he was looking for. Called the number.. Which when answered no company name was stated. So when they told me they were looking for me, I told them sorry wrong person. When I googled the number I got this site.
Never will I answer this one again. I wish I could block individual numbers like I can on my cell phone. They are pains in the b..T!- Caller: did not say
- JenniferGot a letter in the mail saying I owed money to a chriprator. I haven't seen one in over 5 years. i called the number and the rude man verifed it was from the dr I had seen and that I owed them money. I had insurance that covered a 100% after the co pay. I never recieved a bill until now, five years later, when I cannot re submit the claims. Have any of these items shown up on any of your credit reports? There is no way I am paying them anything

- MidWe have a situation with Capital Accounts where they tried to collect from the wrong person, they pulled a credit report on the wrong person, and they reported delinquent accounts on the wrong person and have not corrected all of the reported delinquent accounts nine months after the initial report. Does anyone else have a similar experience? I need names and dates. We are going to trial and I want them to remember this one for a long time. Thanks.
