this company has been calling me non-stop i answered a few times and they are always asking for some girl name Ruth, i have told them a MILLION of times that im not Ruth and don't know anyone of that name.

This is the CRA.  You are all looney and worrying over nothing.  It is the collections outbound number for the CRA.  You can call service canada and ask them to confirm it if you don't believe me.  Not everyone is a scam! You need to use common sense.  Which many of you seem to lack.
Fear mongering is just that.  Get ur facts people before you start rambling on something you know nothing about.  The CRA just doesn't deal with taxes it covers many aspects of your file!

Notice it's similarity with 1-866-864-5835  (only difference is the last two digits).
As a rule of thumb, always call them back at their official number and they'll look up your file to see why they called.
For me, it was an automated phone call based on my student loan debt that was incorrectly sent out.  The agent had fixed this issue on the phone with me when I called them back.

I have received several calls from this number over the past several months now, who ever this is never leaves a message, I was able to block it on my cell phone so far, the last time it called me the number shows it's from the U.S and rerouted through a Canadian link

I got a call from this # and they left a message.  The person claimed to be from CRA mispronounced my name and asked I ring them back with my file #  But they gave me no file#.  Not sure what this is as I have had scammers call before claiming to be the government.  Any help here or answers I will appreciate.

Called about outstanding student loan which payment had been made

Called RCMP and CRA on twitter both inform that 1-866-864-5835 is fraudulent.

I thought it was a scam, but I called the legitimate # (after asking a CRA agent) and turned out that it wasn't a scam. I originally blocked this # but it's a good thing I investigated a bit further.

They called me, left no message which was strange. I did some digging and found out that this number is definitely a scam, no matter what anyone else says. They asked for information that the real CRA would already have on file, and wouldn't need to know. They ask for your SIN number some times, which can be used to steal your identity, so be careful and whatever you do- DO NOT tell them any of your personal information. Just block the caller.
