I got a missed call on my cell. I called back and an uneducated ebonic man answered "GC Services". I told him that I got a missed call and had him look up my cell number. He said it must have been a wrong number.

These people have been taking my tax return for 20 years. They said that I still owe the full amount. Can someone recommend a lawyer to help me with my situation? They even call my neighbors! Please help.

They called my office and left a rude message saying I needed to call them back and this is the thrid time they called. I called back and a man answered the phone. He would not tell me what the call was about until I gave him my name and social security number. UMMMM, sounds like a scam to me. I asked who he was with and he said educational services. I did not go to college, so I know I do not have student loans. He threatened to go take further action if I did not give him my information. I hung up on him.

I got a missed call on my cell phone and called it back it was a man named stan with GC Services saying that it was a financial co and wanted to talk to my boyfriend about some financial things.  I told him I wanted to off the calling list and he said that it was not a telemarket co.  So he is still harassing me.  If he calls you or anyone at that number dont answer it or do and tell them to stop calling.  Also the number that was on my cell was
    614-322-1797.

This guy has called me twice. Identified himself as "Stan". The first message I ignored. The second one he said "Call me back immediately, " as he was trying to avoid "calling my employer."

These losers like to post phony intimidating messages on sites like these, so expect one here at some time.  They also like to call using their first name.... as though someone who is a good friend uses an 800 number, right?  LOL
    Forget about these bottom-feeding dorks.

These days with the economy the way it is, there are many more unemployed who are willing to become collectors.  The companies do not have to pay a salary since they are paid only on the suckers that they can coerce into paying them.

Remember, that if you deal with any of these jerks that even after you pay them, they sometimes still will sell your account to the next collection agency who will try to force you to pay again and again.

By the time any account gets to a collection agency, the agency has already bought the account for pennies on the dollar from the original lender (who has no interest anymore in collection on an account they have sold and written off).  This is only about profit for collection agencies.  That is all.  Only suckers deal with them or pay them.

Just don't deal with any collection agency ever.  Don't even talk to them, or it will be just the beginning of a long nightmare.

    Employer
This is a legitimate company. I am an employer and they have called several times to verify employment to send out garnishments. The people I have spoken with have always been friendly and they always ask if I can pass a message on to the employee so that they can pay them directly instead of having to send a garnishment which can make the total you owe hundreds more.

Was contacted from this firm regarding a 20 yr old student debt I got into in middle age trying to get out of roofing. It was a Remington College affiliate and very much a scam. Stupid me was one of 3 left out of 40 in class after 6 months. I learned nothing, no accredited teachers stayed longer then 2 weeks. The curriculum was already out of date ( computers in 1995) and the office staff would teach due to lack of teachers. Promised job after graduation.. but that never happened since I actually learned nothing that pertained to the field at that point.
So I try to dispute the debt, Congress already had Remington in its sites ( they now don't care at all, rape em if you can mentality) but was told that even though Congress had them considered scams schools I still owed debt. Then I get letter from this collection agency.
My wife was on speaker phone with me. I am 62 and still a roofer. I have no benefits, no retirement, no vacations. I don' t own a home, or have an IRA or even a checking account. I fell through a roof at the time we made arrangements I went from like 650 a week to 650 a month.. and since then it has been not much better .. $500 a week norm ( from making over $52000 in previous years) I am no longer put on piece work and only working repairs by hour, and hardly ever a full day. My income is not stable and I am way too old to keep doing this much longer after 45 yrs of back breaking work. So we discuss getting me out of default and garnishment and come to an agreement of $50 a month ( Debt was only like $3500 but they tacked on over a grand in fees for collection!) and in 9 months they would clear my credit report from default to on time and in 12 months they would no longer handle collections and my account would go to a lender and we can make arrangements for me to pay off balance and that the huge fee would be removed.
I have no bank so it is coming out of my ex wives account for over 4 months now.
I get to work this morning and my boss hands me a note from this company!! WTF are they calling my work for? Payments and arrangements made. I could loose my job due to this. I called and asked for an address for a cease and desist and they demanded my name, etc which I do not have to provide. They are a collection agency and if someone wants an address they should provide it. This company is under contract with the US Dept of Edu!!!!! I contact US Dept of Edu and they say they show payments being made but nothing as to a reinstatement or any other agreement.. just payments, leaving me still in default @$R! I kept asking agent and Edu why they use this scam company with tons of bad ratings.. I told them we have an arrangement hence why you are getting paid. And he said have them send the paperwork!! 5 months after we made arrangement's and did not understand why I am so pissed at not only collectors but the Department.. You hire them, they scam us and you don't do [***] about it? So now what? This scam company calling my job when I have honored our agreement. Making arrangements and paying but they never contacted the Dept of Edu to show I am in arrangements to get out of default and garnishment.
Screw the US Dept of Edu its a rape system anyway. Hence why we are some of the most under educated people in the Westernized world. Don't waste your time going into student debt and living in moms basement for 10 yrs while you wait tables cause no jobs in your major.. Seriously you can learn anything on the net..
