    LAWSUIT
Me too;  I am embarrassed to say $560, and probably more.  There is more than just this website with people who have been robbed, and how many people do not post.  This is a BOA problem.  I am contacting the media.

It's an insurance company that makes offers to BOA customers. Apparently they have been taking $20 out of my bank account since September of 2006 and I just noticed this. I never accepted or got any papers. I'm personally calling fraud and gonna try to get the money back.

The same thing, I'm a BOA customer. They call me to offer me an insurance but they never send me the papers. I call the same number and cancel the insurance right away. Hopefully it's going to work or I need to cancel my account....

I've been getting ripped off by these [***] as well through my Bank of America account.  This is the SECOND TIME I'VE VERBALLY REQUESTED TO BE TAKEN OFF THEIR UNAUTHORIZED "SERVICE" AND THEY'VE COMPLETELY IGNORED IT.  $20 every month!!  Good work Bank of America - you've just destroyed your chance with any recommendation from me EVER and I will be trying to convince as many people as possible to close their accounts with you.

I will be filing complaints with every bbb type organization as I can about this company as well as Bank of America for not investigating this.

Smart Step Insurance has been taking $20/monthly from my Bank of America account since December 2006.  When I called they said an agent contacted me in December 2006, and I authorized a $100,000 Accidental Death Insurance.  I was out of town all of December, and never authorized anything.  I visited my Bank of America Branch today, and they gave a number to call to report fraud.  They said they have no contact with any Bank of America subsidiaries.  I intend to pursue this until I receive 22 months of payments they took out of my account without my authorization.

Same thing happen to me a Bank of America customer too.  I 'am so mad. Smart step insurnce have been taking $20.00 out of my checking account every 5th of the month since Aug 2006 and I just found out Nov. 17, 2008.  Bank of America said that they could only refund me back $60.00 WHAT!  I want all of my money back.  I never agreed to any life insurance policy, never received any paper work let alone a policy number. I called 866-879-0179 and the agent said " hello and thank you for being a Bank of America customer".  I'am talking to a lawyer and the press.

    Annoyed
I initially received a phone call from 1-866-822-7583. The so-called "associate" sounded completely illiterate. She attempted to describe some type of insurance and I immediately said I was not interested! The scary thing is that the phone number was listed as Bank of America on my caller id!! She then gave me the 1-866-879-0179 number as call back info.

After reading all of these stories, I called that number and asked to be removed from their list. They answered my call by saying "Thank you for calling Bank of America. How can I help you"!! I also called BOA and filed a formal complaint with the fraud department. I still feel as if this isn't enough. These people are not only stealing money from BOA customers, but they literally stole the identity of the bank as well!

So far, no suspicious charges on my accounts. I plan on keeping a closer eye on my info and telling everyone I know about this scam!! Is there anything else we can do as BOA customers (or former customers)?
