    This telephone number belongs to:
    CBV COLLECTION SERVICES
    814 Richards Street. Vancouver, B.C.

CBV is a debt collection agency.  They perform debt collection services for many different companies, including TELUS.

In view of their office being located in the business-centre of Vancouver, they pay very high rent, therefore do not concern yourself with their threats to take you to court, as they do not sue anyone, they can't afford the upfront court costs, and they certainly can not afford to lose their court-case should the Judge side with the defendant.
Also if you are not employed, then you are not suable, but you do not have to tell them that.  In fact you do not have to tell them anything, and you do not have to call them back if you choose not to.  Also there is nothing they can or will do if you put the telephone down on them.
If they are serious about suing you, they would do so.

I no longer answer my land-line unless I recognize the calling party's number, I let my answering machine
    pick-up the incoming calls.
My outgoing message to all calling parties is a continuous recording of the Jeopardy theme tune, which I
    found on YouTube!!!

Just so everyone knows, & this will-[***] the collection agents: by Federal Law, a collection agency has the power to "Ask You to pay your bill and offer assistance in setting up a payment schedule" That is all.

    1) they are never allowed to call you at your place of employment for any reason.
    2) they can not, under any circumstances, harrass you into payment, by phone, mail or in person & they may not threaten you or your credit standing in any way.
    3) You do not have to deal with a collection agency at any time. You are only obligated to deal with the original creditor, even if the agency has bought the account from them. You do not have to deal with them. 4) a collection agency can not put negative information on your credit file.
    5) so in short... all they can do is "nicely" ask you to pay your bill. But we all know that they generally go way beyond that.

If you are having a problem with an agency, call the consumer bureau and report them and if it is a serious harassment issue, or call at your place of employment, contact the police and file charges. These are federal laws that they must follow, but most offen do not and will push it to the limit. Yes, several collectors have been fired and / or charged under these laws. Some even jailed. Their employers usually get a fine & tell the authorities they never asked the employee to do that, thus leaving the employee on their own to take the blame. True sharks in every way.
If you are having financial issues, & most people do at one point or another in their lives, call a credit counselling service in your area. They are a free service in every province and will assist you. Do not deal with collectors on your own. If you can not afford to pay, the service will understand & work with you, without any judgement toward you, and no credit bruising. The calls stop immediately.

This company went to my elderly parents and told them what this call was about. They call over 20 times a day with threatening comments.
Now to get them off my back ,  my savings are gone to which I was going to use to go see my new grandchild.

They call early in the morning I never answer phone numbers that I don’t know especially toll-free ones. They never leave a voicemail. They have left me a text a couple of times.  They tell me it is a business concern.  I have blocked this number but as we all know These bottom feeders are relentless. They just use a different phone number and I just keep blocking

This is an aggressive collection company.  I suggest to just keep screening and blocking. They call me from many different lines and I keep blocking them so now they are texting.  They can not hurt you and they can not sue you. They are an irritant at best. You can either report them or change your phone number and make it unlisted but they usually find it.

Received two calls from them within 3 mins. It’s 6pm and they didn’t leave a voice message. From this thread, if they are a debt collection agency, they don’t leave a message & they don’t know who I am. Number blocked.. but I’m sure they’ll use another telephone number to call from 😡

Yeah it's cbv. They call me about 8 times a day using 3 different numbers. They even call at about 9:45 at night and only let it ring twice and hang up. I've never made an attempt to answer or call them back. They don't leave messages either. I actually do owe money to a company and have recently found a way to pay them what I owe. I will not deal with a collection company though I'll be dealing with the actual company that I owe. Why include a third party when they are not required anyway. I'm sure they get a cut or have to pay back what they bought the contract for. Whatever, it must be frustrating for the collection company but hey... Thems the brakes.

CBV Collections is notorious for harassing people. They are well known for buying old debt from other collection agencies. Each province has a statute of limitations on debt. Ontario for instance is two years. CBV will still try to collect once the statute ends.
Collections agencies are only allowed to contact people who owe debts three times in a seven day period. Contact includes, email, telephone calls, and voicemail. They are only allowed to call between the hours of 07:00 to 21:00. Here is a link that explains Ontario laws

Those are automated calls to find out which time slots you do answer so they know which slots to have a person talk to you in the future when convenient for them.
