They claim to be WaMu, request payment over the phone even though you're not late.  Obvious caller ID spoof.

They harrass for payment for WaMu, but have no information from loan numbers or so forth.  VERY VERY RUDE.  I am overdue for my payment, but have made arrangements.  Called states his name to be Alex and calling from CA.

Again, very RUDE and threatening.

Got three calls so far from this number. They say they are from WaMu trying to collect on a bad mortgage. However I am hundreds of miles from any Washington Mutual, have never had or never will have a loan with them. They pressed for
ss# which I refused.

I got 3 calls from this number today.  I didn't realize until just now that it was a scam.  The first phone call the guy said he was from WAMU, and actually told me what my address was, without me telling him first.  It seemed legitimate because I have actually been having a bit of a dispute lately about my escrow account with them, and short-paid my last payment, but then made up the difference about 10 days ago after realizing that they would report this as a late payment.  So I gave in and called them to let them know that about 8-10 days ago.  so the 1st call I brushed him off saying I had handled it already and he seemed all too eager to let me off the phone.  But then, tonight I got 2 more calls from the same number, not putting it altogether and simply hanging up when this automated voice said "please hold the line".  I figured it was a sales call and that's when I plugged in the number and found this site.  The 1st phone call the guy definitely asked for a payment.  When I brushed him off he seemed anxious to get off the line.  Don't know whether this is legit.  I will call WAMU tonight and find out for sure.

I've been getting about 2 calls a day from this number on my cell phone.  I haven't answered since I don't know the caller and they never leave a voice message.  Very annoying to keep getting calls.  Now that I know about what is going on I will not answer this number.  I've never had an account with WAMU.

I do have a mortgage with WaMu (one of the worst lending companies in the world!) and 866-926-8937 is the phone number that appears on my statement and it is legit (although WaMu's lending/collection practices aren't!)

I get between 3-5 calls a day as well.  I never answer numbers that don't have caller ID - I let them leave a message.  Of course, these people don't.  After getting so many calls from them, I plugged the number into Google and read all your messages.  I've registered a complaint w/ the National Do Not Call Registry.

I recently started to get calls from this number but since I did not recognize it I let the machine pick up.  Sometimes there is a message "please hold the line for a very important call" etc. other times no message.  I have no accounts with WaMu so I don't know why I would be getting these calls.

I am getting 4 or 5 calls a day from this number on my cell phone. I can not tell you how annoying this is. I have no business with the bank that comes up as the owner of the number and when I contact their 800 number there is no way to register a complaint.

I got a call today. I didn't answer the phone and they didn't leave a message. So I googled this number. Funny thing is that I just bought a house and its financed through Wamu. So going to this site where others are receiving the same call for mortgage payment is really scary. On top of that, I haven't even made my first payment only because like I said, I JUST bought it not even a week ago. SCARY!!!

I just got one of these as well, though the voicemail was cut off.  I just refinanced my WaMu mortgage a few weeks ago.

Recieved calls from this number several times over a long interval. Never a response from the other side. http://www.intelius.com/ reverse lookup found results, don't feel like paying for it but if you are more bothered they will tell you who it is and where they are for like 5 bucks.

In anycase, this is obviously a phishig scam. Do not give these people your information. Report harassing phone calls to the athorities and provide them the information on this site and others so they can find out who is trying to steal identities from people.

Just started getting calls on my cell from this number.  I've never answered since I didn't recognize the number in Caller ID, they don't leave any messages. I DO NOT have ANY relationship with WAMU.

I have been receiving numerous calls from this number stating that I am late on my mortgage and need to pay a payment ASAP. This is not possible because I personally walked in to my local WaMu branch and they had no record of any payments being missed or late. This is obviously some kind of scam.

I called the local branch and discussed this problem with the branch manager.  Maybe if all the local branch managers have to spend enough time dealing with this then something will happen.

Suggest you all do the same

My husband in Iraq right now and i keep getting calls from these number in his voice mail but very odd messages like a someone laughing and another one said me to me to kinda on the creepy side but we neither bank with WAMU or have a mortgage loan and the calls started  couple of months into his deployment so he had already had his number for over a year

They called. When I answered, no one was there. I'm late on a payment for WAMU. Probably a call center sweat shop.

I do have mortgages with WaMU. I own 2 rental properties and Washington Mutual has the loans.  I am getting harassed up to 10 times a day with calls from WaMu's call center which is located in Costa Rica.  The payments are due the 1st of each month but you have up until the 16th to pay. After the 16th you are considered late and have to pay a late fee.  WaMu is calling on the 3rd of the month and is relentless.  I don't believe this is legal. How can they ask for payment when I AM NOT LATE!!!  

Anyone know who we can complain to? Is there any State, Federal office of Consumer Affairs??

This number called me today and Mary (female asian) asked for someone with a first name that was a derivative of my last name. I said I was that person and what did she need. She kinda started laughing and said "no, that isn't you".

I then accused her of being a scammer and asked her if she was proud of what she was doing.  Oh yea, I also hoped she would die in fire and burn in hell.  These people are the dredges of society that prey on people who don't know any better.  I just kept them on the phone as long as possible to tie up their phone lines.
