Got a call threatening me supposedly from the IRS. Called back. Sounded like a call center. The person identified himself as Ricky Smith from the IRS and accused me of tax fraud. Said I had 48 hours to pay or I was going to jail. I explained that the IRS would have sent me something in the mail. Furthermore, I explained that I have never committed tax fraud and I was going to report him to the IRS.

I got a call from this number and I returned it.  They answer IRS.  I asked where this were calling from, the man answered Karachi.  This is in Pakistan.  Why can't this # be tracked and blocked from calling the US?

It's definitely a scam. You'd get a letter from them, with your name, property address, etc., directly identifying you.
Called my accountant, she verified that it's a crap call.

I got a call from this number, when called back they said they are calling from IRS audit department. Once they started asking questions I got suspicious and asked them to send me whatever they need in writing, that's when they hung up.
The caller identified himself as Tony Foster with badge ID#15190.  

First call from this number was a computer voiced message saying the IRS was going to freeze all bank accounts within 24 hours and that we were going to get a visit from an agent in 24 hours. The second call I answered 2 hours later not knowing it was from the same number and a man with a middle eastern accent asked for my wife. He then asked me to take a message and he wanted her to call Ricky Smith regarding a legal matter. He sounded so vague and suspicious that I told him she would not call him back. He then said to tell her to get well rested and that I should get well rested too and he hung up on me. I called right back and computer voice said welcome to the IRS. then it went right to a person who happened to be Ricky Smith. When I asked him why he wanted to talk to my wife he said I was breaking up and hung up on me.
