Keeps calling, & leaves no message

These people keep calling the office from (866) 940-7640. Most of the time, there's not anyone there.

Today, however, there was a woman on the other end of the line and asked for my boss. When I asked who she was, she gave a first name. When I asked what the name of the company she was with, she got belligerent. She started asking me who I was.

I repeated my question: "What is the name of your company?"

She replied, "Sir, are you in the habit of violating Federal Law? Because it's against Federal Law for me to tell you that."

"It's against Federal Law for you to tell me the name of your company?", I asked her.

"Yes."

"No - it's not against Federal Law to tell me the name of your company."

"I didn't say that, sir -"

"Yes, you did - I asked you the name of your company and you said it was against Federal Law for you to tell me."

"Well, it is!", she said.

"Then give me the statute number in Federal Law that states that it's against the law for you to tell me the name of your company.", I said.

"You can call your congressman for that.", she replied.

"No, I'm not going to call my congressman - you stated that it's against Federal Law for you to tell me the name of your company, I asked you to give me the statute number, and you didn't because you can't - because it's not against Federal Law for you to tell me the name of your company."

She began yelling at me, so I promptly hung up.

calls just gives first name stupid way of doing business companys like this should be close down

I keep getting calls from this number and get the same run around when I ask what company it is. They are all extremely rude so I end up hanging up. If they don't want to be polite and give me some basic info then I'm not going to accomidate them. It must be a standard script that they all use because the last converstation that I had was exactly the same as "Bill" had.

keeps calling, there are tons of complaints against these numbers and I don't understand why this cannot be stopped.

I got a very good tip from someone else about this number and the others like it.  If they are calling your cell phone, you can change the ringer to 'none' so that when they call you never hear it.  Since they never leave a message it becomes a minor annoyance.  Since the economy is in the toilet, these sewere dwellers will multiply trying to get hard working honest folks confused and upset enough to pay bills they do not really owe.  I try to remember that folks are just trying to do a job, but I swear it takes a special kind of creep to do this job!

another dim-whit from this number called today refusing to tell me the name of the company they represent.  These slime balls are nothing but gutless wonders who pray on people who have the misfortune to fall behind due to the poor economy.
They are abusive when they call and they are violating federal law when they harass people by phone

This lady called and asked for Betty.  Told her I don't know any Betty, but I will marry her if she calls again.

Numerous calls to my cell phone from this number - rarely, if ever, anyone on the other end. The one time there was, the lady said she was from Portfolio Recovery Associates. I asked what it was in reference to - she stated it was for a debt for a company I had never heard of. I told her this, and she promptly said "they bought a debt from "Company XYZ". I asked what year the debt was from and she said it was written off in 1994! I told her I do not recall the debt, but that it appears to be time-barred under statutes of limitation, and to please not contact me again. She told me Federal Law states they "have to" keep calling until the debt is paid. These people are cretins.

Calls come in 24/7 at all hours, even after 9p. No one on the other end. I have changed my phone number now!

This is a collection agency. They are very rude, they called me telling me I was someone that I wasn't.  It's in everyones best interest to know the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).  You can read about it at this link or search FDCPA.  http://www.privacyrights.org/fs/fs27-debtcoll.htm#2

call, and leave no message, why would anyone now buy a bad debt anyway, they aren' too bright, they need to contact Nancy Pelosi, she can pay it. anyway , i don't answer calls on my cell phone unless I know who it is..SOL they are, keep trying, take me to court, and when the court rules they get $10 a month, then what?

Calls at night late, calls on Sunday, never leaves a message. Caller ID only says Toll Free Call.  I have no idea what they want.

These people cant seem to get the message that I'm not going to answer them. All I get is a buusy signal on my answering machine. How cheesy not to leave  a message and let you know what company they are with. That is not the way to do things.
