Rings.  I see "Unknown Name" and unusual number on caller ID.  I answer.  No response from other end.  I hang up.

This Chicago IL number kept calling several times today until I finally answered it.  A man with a thick Indian accent told me he was from Windows tech support and that he wanted to speak with me about the recent hacking attempt on my computer.  He then said "You know about that, right?"  I responded that I had just recently moved and wasn't even hooked up to the internet yet so I didn't see how anyone could hack my computer.  He hung up.

I have receive two calls from the same voice, one marked private ( yesterday) and today's was 872-345-6789. Telling me my Windows acct had been hacked. When I shared I had just downloaded new virus scan he shared no, no mame you don't understand. I then asked but I guess for a price you could fix it, No no you don't understand. I hung up. My parents received the call yesterday too.

My so-called name indicates where I am from.
872-345-6789 called with I.D. = NAME NOT FOUND
Guy sounded Indian ( not Native American ).
Windows virus. They or someone like them has called before and I reported, as I will this one.
It is some sort of HACKING SCAM.
I do not have WINDOWS!
Told me to look at my keyboard. I know why. Apple and Windows keyboards differ.
I took them a long ways with this B.S., last time, until I they got to this point, so they have wised up!
More troubling to me is that they knew my NAME!!!
Why so troubling? Because my REAL FIRST name is NOT listed. I am a Jr., and have always gone by my MIDDLE NAME.
So, the question that beckons attention is; WHERE are they gleening OUR PERSONAL information from?!?

Windows support with a strong India-like accent. Says I have have a Windows computer problem. Obviously he is the problem! And a criminal. Time for a drone strike.

this phone number calls me everyday, they never leave a message. today is answered and asked for them to stop calling, he told me i would have to pay him money to stop the phone calls, i told him to stop calling and i would never give any money to him. we will see what happens tommorow. its a shame when you call back it says the number is not valid. such a scam!

I just received a call from this number - 872-345-6789 - said he was calling about my computer - calling from the Windows - although it sounded like Wingos - technical department about my computer. I said I didn't have a computer that needed help and he hung up. He was not a native English speaker

I also received a call earlier this week from a unfamiliar number from a foreign country - which I later looked up and it said Afghanistan - where the caller asked for me by name and then hung up.

Did anyone notice how their phone number is all sequential numbers?  What a joke!   I never answer unknown calls.  If they're someone I know, they'll leave a message.

Caller had a heavy accent stated that he was from Windows  a Tech Support and that my computer was sending signals and that he could fix the problem.   He further said that someone could acces my computer and do something illegal and it would look like I did it.  I questioned him about being from Windows Tech told him he was the hacker and hung up!

The same kind of thing. A man with a strong Indian accent calls and says he's from "Windows" and that my computer had sent them a message that it has been hacked. That he is going to show me the files that prove that this has happened and help me to fix the problem. I work in technology and immediately knew he was phishing. I listened to his false presentation, then told him I have significant protection that would preclude any kind of hacking. I also asked him again what company he works for and he again told me "Windows". So STUPID!! Windows is a Microsoft product; a computer operating system, not a company!! So then I said I wasn't going to spend any time looking in my computer for any hacked files, and told him, "Out of respect for you please give me your company phone number." He responded, "OK" and then said "I-220-" and then HUNG UP!!. This is a complete scam. They are looking for vulnerable people to prey on that don't know much, if anything, about their computers. If they call you don't answer!! This is a method to steal from you!!!

Can't be ANYTHING but a scam!

I too received this call last night, but didn't answer. As to how they get your information, I was one of the people who was a victim when the IRS got hacked. It has been a nightmare, and I shudder what else these criminals do with the information.

Is this another scam? Why ask for names?
