Report a phone call from 877-201-3399 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- DavidReceived phone calls to my in-laws' house. Each time they said a civil suit has been filed against me and I had 24 hours to respond (although the phone calls came in over a 2 week period). First caller was someone going by the name Noelle Lucas, then Ashley O'Conner and Investigator Riddington. Very threatening saying, "Failure to respond will result in further legal action. Thank you and good luck!". I'm certain this is a very old account, bought by a collection agency and most likely beyond the statute of limitations. Since they are unable to find, I'm not sure how to report them for their unethical practices. I have had the same address for 10 years so any legit issue would come straight to me and if there was, in fact, a civil suit it would not come by way of a phone call to my in-laws' house.

- Theresajust got a call from this number - a Lt. Billinger said that a sherrif would be coming out to my work address with a summons on a civil case - breach of contract and malicious intent to defraud. I really shouldn't have called them back but I did the woman who answered refused to say what agency she was representing. I don't think they are legitimate but, since she said she was sending the sherrif to my place of business in the next three days I guess I can let ya all know if they show up.
- TheresaSeems this is a company called Legal Action located at 1640 Powers Ferry Road, in Marietta Georgia. When I called back to say that I would file a complaint with the FTC that they were violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act and stating that I had saved the telephone message, which included a threat the fellow who answered the phone had the nerve to tell me to stop calling his business.
Well, I did report them to the FTC - suggest anyone else bothered by this company do the same - JeffI love screwing with these guys. I talk Italian frankly they are a joke that buys severely charged off credit card debt at 1 cent on the dollar and then try and collect the hell out of it at a profit. Their debt excces the staute of limitations in my state and I got the we have a Civil Complaint pending yada, yada, yada. Hey bring it on...........
- carmenethey called me back in november, fell for it because i had a discover card from 1999 they have all my info what do i do now. just got suspicious because one of the ladies was beyond rude because im a day late on my payment.. then called back to get the company named and he kept repeating Legal Action Investigators. Also a name of one of them is Nancy Wellington.. How do i get this resolved they have my info????
- EVGot the call today at an "unlisted" cell phone but I guess someone's outlook contact list got "bot-napped" and now it's out there. Anyways I get a v-mail from Noelle Lucas saying there's a potential legal action case with a suit that's still under investigation. She stated that I must call back or "further action" might take place. I'm glad for Google and those of you who posted. I didn't even call back. THANK

- JimMy mother (who lives in another state than me) received a voice mail from this "investigator Noel Lucas" she needed to verify my address to serve a summons with a "thank you and good luck" at the end of the voice mail. Well I made the mistake of calling the number back 877-201-3399. Spoke with a "investigator Riddington" I speficllaly asked what police department he worked for with a response from him he does not work for a police department. I then ask if he worked for a collection agency and his response again was “NO”. He stated that he would have me arrested, pursue legal actions against me. I asked what I was being arrested for or having legal action against me for with a response of he does not have that information. WHAT??
He then hung up on me. Well I called back again and got “investigator Noel” rude refused to give me any information and just kept saying “good luck”. I asked again for the details of the pending legal matter or pending arrest was for with no additional information just a “good Luck” and hung up. Before she hung up with me she stated the phone call was being recorded. This was the first I heard of this. She did not state the phone call was being recorded when she picked up the phone. Nor did any of the other “investigators.”
I called back again and spoke with “investigator Presson” again asked if he worked for a police department he stated “no”. I asked if he worked for a collection agency he stated “no”. He stated he worked for a attorney and the attorneys name was “Jeffery Goldsmith” I asked where Mr. Goldsmith office was located and was told his office was located in Minneapolis. I searched the MN state bar for Mr. Goldsmith and he was not listed at a member of the bar.
BUT all of the “investigators” were willing to settle the case with me if I provided them with my bank account information or a credit card.” I asked several times for details about the case and no one had or was willing to give up the information. I advised them I would not settle a “pending” legal case without documentation about the case and again got “good luck.”
I will be filing a complaint with the State of Georgia consumer affairs, the FTC the BBB.
The company is located in Georgia and if anyone would like to file a complaint with the state of Georgia the address is:

- The ReaperAlso received a call from the clowns. Years ago I was in the business. They are a 3rd party collection outfit collecting 10 yr. plus debts. Have no fear they can hit your credit and they cant file civil suit because the debt is past the statute of limitations. They are annoying and are in violation of both the FTC and the FDCPA. If you are nearby to their office you will see its in class B commercial space and these are just telemarketers. Have no fear.....

- The ReaperSimilar to the collection agencies of the past which said ". You have one week before they would proceed against you"; these companies uses collector names to intimidate you. The name they call with is crafted to be intimidating. Calling themselves investigators is new and threatening legal action universally is an interesting tactic. With modern technology and google it is far easier to skip trace than the past. It is also far easier to find out who the collector is.
Their methodology is as follows
1st demand- call intimidating any and all to elicit you to call them back- its what they call skip tracing. They then will try to intimidate you to pay them something. Collectors are universally either college kids who dont know any better which is what I was 10 years ago or old telemarketing types who used to sell vitamins and air purifiers by phone.
2nd Demand- They will call as a manager to help you. For this they will use their real name. Although I dont know about this company as they are violating the FDCPA with their tactics. They will ask you for payment arrangements in the form of postdated checks- dont do it.
3rd Demand- They will call as a clerk for a final disposition to get whatever they can collect.
These tactics have been used for years and there may be some variation. The company I worked for had a very harsh demand but to my experience never threatened legal action. Report them to the necessary authorities FTC for voioltation of the FDCPA, and if enough of you complain to their lease manager which is Governors Ridge in Marietta GA they may get kicked out of their building because property managers hate complaints.
And as they say GOOD LUCK- Caller: Legal Action

- ConnieIsvestigaor Presson called me in Florida looking for my son. This is the 3rd time they have called in the past year. I was advised to have my son call Inspector Renington at 877-201-3399 and ref case #COV12929. I reported them to the local FBI office. My son is a police officer and he forwarded last years message to the FBI.
- ClaudeI wasn't contacted personally by this company, they had the nerve to contact my girlfriend's father. They were calling on some zombie debt from 10+ years ago. My future father in law played along with their b.s. and they ended up giving him the debt information (amount and everything) as well as the last 4 digits of my social security number. On top of that, they threatened legal action against me. I called them back when i got the info. from my girlfriend's dad. I blocked my number and called them back every chance i got for three hours straight unleashing a string of obscenities on them. Who do these people think they are? There are enough complaintents on this site alone to start an action against these jokes. I think I will definitely contact a lawyer on this one. I will post more information when I get it. In the mean time, if anyone has any other advise on how to get these @#$%% please post it. I am very interested. Thank you for the info. on their address as well.

- ClaudeI found the number of the property management association who rents the space to these a'holes. I have been calling him non stop. He picked up the phone but pretended like he could not here me. I left several messages with him informing him that a business that he rents to is performing illegal activities. It seems he does not like to be disturbed. I figure since we are all being disturbed by this bunch we should at least let the property manager know what it is like. His emergency # is 404-234-9001. Pleae let me know your results. I will not stop till i get answers from this @#$%*.

- mserinThis company is a bunch of fools trying to make a buck off the general public with verbal threats and words that are designed to scare and horrify the family members of their chosen "mark." Their "investigators" are more than likely some down on their luck individuals or prison inmates wotrking a telemarketing gig.
Tell them that calls to your family members will be met with police reporting and that if they ahve any proof that you owe money then they can put it on paper and send it to you in the mail. They don't, so they won't.
When they get rude, tell them future calls will be reported to the police and hang up. - Brenda"Special Investigator" Stephen Bratcher?...not very clear at all on message left on my machine. He threatened me with coming to arrest me at work. He told me that I needed to seek advice from an attorney. I was so upset that I almost passed out. My stomach hit the floor. I called them back ASAP. They, again, threatened me and told me that they could "work out a deal" for me on this debt. (Never once did they state that they were from a collection agency). I was so unnerved by the whole thing that I agreed to pay them $1000 now and 60 payments for $50 per month.
I thank goodness that the card that I gave them was a debit card, not a Vis/MC. They could not process the payment, therefore they left me another nasty message....I telephoned them to try to straighten out the problem...they transferred me to their "Auditing Dept" to give them my info again...they did state that they were recording my call at this point.
They came to realize that I had a debit card, and they could not process the payment. I went so far as to purchase a pre-paid Visa card to pay them with today...I still had this doubt in the back of my mind about the whole thing, and that is when I did a search on-line for their "business". I am so glad that I listened to that little voice in my head! I found this site, and everyone's experiences with these scam artists.I was horrified.
All the stories sounded exactly like mine!
One of their "Office Managers" contacted me at work today to ask me about the payment...I explained that I was having to purchase a pre-paid Visa and I would call them tonight. Before I had a chance to call them, they called me around 8p to get their money (that was after I had read all this on them). I asked him to produce proof that I owed them money and he said that he did not have to do that. I told him that I would not pay them a dime until he mailed me copies of the bill and the legal action. He was rude, yelled at me and basically called me a liar when I told him that I had not gotten anything from them! He kept insisting that I open my email they had sent me...I told him that my email would not allow me to do so. I asked him several times to mail it to me...I also asked him what would they do if someone did not have a computer/email...he did not stop yelled long enough to give me an answer. He did mention that it costs the company money to use the mail. I told him that I would have my attorney contact them and he told me there was no need....he told me that I was giving them the run around, that I was going to end up in court, and as he hung up on me he wished me "good luck"! I was given the name Tony, Hans Gould, Tim Detotch and another I didn't catch...all of them claimed to be the office "manager"...I asked the last caller exactly how many managers were there and he said 4.
I plan to report them to the FTC and anyone else that I can...I might just call their landlord, as others have, to let him know that these people are doing illegal things from that building.
I am going to cancel my debit card, and hope that they don't call me at work again!I only hope that they don't have my social, which they probably do.

- anj912I also recieved the phone call from Special Investigator Stephen Sratcher and they called my mother in law and they even had the audacity to call my brothers sister-in-law. We have got to collectively do something to stop this. One voice doesn't seem to scare them, but maybe a group of complaints might do the trick. My brother called the number and said what you are doing is ilegal and we are going to report your company and their response was "Good luck".

- NI received my 2nd phone call from these jokers today regarding my step-daughter. Spoke with "Investigator" Riddington. Told him to remove our phone number from this file and warned him if I ever receive another phone call from them that I would file a police report on them for harrassment and impersonating an officer as well as filing a legimate law suit against them. If any of you receive a phone call from them representing themselves as officers of the law (Investigator, Special Investigator, Sheriff, etc.) you need to file a police report with your local police department as impersonating a police officer is a felony, punishable with jail time.
- SnoopydoesitbetterHave been harrased for several months now, by several different people from the same number.
Each time demanding that it is urgent, and that if my mother doesn't call them they will file legal action against her.
I told them I have three friends with the Justice Dept. and if they ever call my house again I'll give my friends all the information and digital messagesto my friends there.- Caller: Legal Action Recovery
