Long pause, person hacked my name, replied 'take me off your list and don't call back'

They called twice on June 10, 2009, at about 10:00 p.m. EDT. I answered neither call. When I checked the answering machine (the light was flashing), a voice said, "Is this [Spud Lite]?" (Name is made up.) Fellow obviously didn't know he was inadvertently leaving a message. I heard a great many voices in the background - obviously a call centre. Then he hung up.

I called back the number today, and discovered that it had something to do wih TRG, which may be an insurance company. I was actually given the opportunity to add them to the Canadian "Do not call" registry. This seemed to be potentially part of the scam (as in, "We've got a live one here!"), so I just hung up.

Got a person, after many-many calls and hang ups at their end.  Told me that they were Canadian Tire with an offer to fix home appliances when broken for no parts or labour costs. And would like to send all the info in the mail for my perusal.......so there is no need to make a decision right now.
Can we say, more useless insurance....... NO Thanks.

It was Canadian Tire calling credit card holders. Selling a home insurance plan and were very persistent.

I am getting weekly calls from TRG asking to be placed on their "do not call" list. I'm still getting nuisance calls as well as calls from TRG. I've placed a call to the government authorities regarding this and am hopeing that fines will result!

Called me on cell won't say when because they might look up the calling list to see the date and time and try calling again using "Lee" as a name to talk, this may not even be my real name!

This is one of 30 unknown, unnamed or unrecognized numbers who phone my home or my cell, I have a recycled home # as well which doesn't help much in the way of unwanted calls. Seems like it has belonged to more than one person- AARGGH! It supposedly cost more to obtain a brand new # so I am just gonna keep it.

I have call display so that helps a little, and what i have been doing lately seems to help more:

I always have my cell and cordless charged, nearby. Upon first ring, i look at the number and if i don't see a name i know or want to talk to I just pick up then hang up on my cell if it's the first time, then make sure i add it to the block list so my cell won't even ring if they try to call again. -IF it is my home phone, I'll either pick up then hang up or pick up and put the phone down close by while continuing to do what i am doing, not saying anything then as soon as someone starts talking i hang up.

Maybe next time i give them a survey or ask if they want to buy my garbage.

they claim to be from "canadian tire mastercard" or "canadian tire financial services. they call me everyday. i told them they have the wrong number. i'm not sure if they are trying to offer promotional services or are trying to get a credit card number to be used with a scam. if they ask for any credit card number, call the cops.

I receive calls from this number recently. Very annoying

been getting these calls two to three times a day.  I answer and no-one says anything.  If it is Canadian Tire, they are severely pissing me off.
