A Lee Anderson called three times while I was away and left messages on my home answering service. She said she wanted to talk to me aqbout my newly-published book, and she mentioned it by name (I do have such a book published). I decided to research the name and number on line and I'm glad I did - just another scam, I suppose.

Somebody named May Anderson called me from 1-877-207-1679 extension304 on February 26 at 8:37 A.M. MST. about Deliverance from Jericho (Six Years in a Blind School).  She only gave the subtitle in the recording. I tried calling back on March 1 at about 9:40 A.M. but the call was unavailable in my area, meaning it must be a non-Canadian number.  Google turned up no documents about May Anderson at that number. The woman didn't mention an organization or business that she was calling from. Does anybody know if this is a scam or just somebody curious about my book?

I have also just received a message regarding my newly published book from a lady named Melissa Adams claiming to be from World Books.com.  Really odd accent and american dail code. 877 207 1679 Ext 323.

I got a call from my nephew from Michigan, it seems a lady by the last name of Anderson, wanted to talk to me about my book that was published in 2006, calling it by correct title.
The number she left was 887-207-1679, ext. 304
Now the funny thing about this was, that  I now live out of state and my name has never been associated with their phone number or address...
It would seem that someone or some company is going through great lengths to find us...

someone named Patrick Morales ext. 331 called me from this same number.  Had a correct name of book (published in 2009) and left msg wanting to ask me some questions, said he was from Bookworld.com?  I haven't called back.

Do NOT respond to this organization regarding marketing your book - stay focus and continue with your plan of publicity and marketing - do not get distracted with this organization.  Don't readily and easily get hooked up with "just any type of calls" - be SMART - always investigate - remember, you have a choice to investigate or waste your money - you choose.

I received a call tonight from Melissa Adams also tonight.  i have not called her back.  i always check out numbers.   She had an accent and anted to talk about my book.

I received the same call with extension 364. I am an author. I could not understand her. I said "reach me byEmail"= silence. Fits with what I read above. Thank you Dr.Dick

This company from 877-207-1679 called me as well.  Much like you all, I thought Melissa Adams said Book World.com, which is a dumby website.  But upon researching the phone number more, I found it online.  The company is called BookWhirl.com, so I can see why we all were confused.  They do fee based online marketing services for self-publishing authors.  Not something I am going to mess with personally, but at least I found the company online.

They're still at it.  I couldn't understand the name of the caller OR the website but at least got the number off my Caller ID screen.   Mentioned  one of my books ( title mispronounced)  and said they had some questions for me.  

I've reported their number to the Do Not Call Registry - they're obviously not a charitable or political organization!

They called me about my recently published book.  They wanted to help with marketing my book.  And charge $700 for an email blast to 2 million people.  The Company is book whirl, you can find them by google searching them.  I told them only 10% of the people will open it, and how do I know they would reach my target audience.  Then I told them I must be doing something right, if they found me :-)  Needlless to say, I did NOT use there services.

They called me and with a strong accent left a message and I could NOT understand the name of their company.   What a rip off.

They called about my book, which is at our local public library, amazon, kindle, my own website and also was at Target.com too for a couple years.

I didn't call them back either.  There are enough negative things on the internet about them that you should also stay away too.

The woman with non-english accent was reading a script when she left the message.

I published a children's book "The Day I Gave My Stuff Away"... I received the same call 1/13/12 from the same person...  1-877-207-1679  ex. 323. Sounds fishy it me...lol

Thanks to all your responses I also now am aware of the issue conc. bookworld.com or whatever it is called. I just released my book "Simple Faith - Biblical Christianity in the culture of Religion and Secularism and got a phone voice mail from Meliisa at the same number as all of you.

I got a call regarding my book "The King of Good Times". I couldn't understand what she was saying. For now I have decided not to use their services.

Same. Book Whirl. Melissa Adams. Yawn!

Got a message on my personal cellphone VM from bookwhirl about my FATHER'S self published book. There is absolutely no reason for my # to be connected to his book so I am frankly creeped out that they would try to contact him through me.

I also received a message from Marco Morales with BookWorld saying they would like to promote my novel.  The number given was 877-207-1679 X-378.  I did not return the call.
