Called to explain 0% interest terms on a recent purchase on my new credit card.

Called to inquire about possible fraudulant CC Charge.

They said my name. I dialed the number and it said it was g e capitol bank. They called left a message about recent activities on my credit card. I don't have an account with them!!!
The automated call asked for my SS#. I did not leave it

I got a call from this company.  They called left a message about recent activities on my credit card.
I dialed the number and it said it was G E capitol bank. They said press one for English and with that they said thanks for opening an account with them. I hung up. Very Scammy.

I called this message back and it was verifying the account I opened up thru Discount Tire. The only thing I had to enter was my phone number and it pulled everything up for me. It's not a scam... I bought new tires Saturday the 21st at 0%...that's all...no biggie...

Very scam my!!!! Everything everyone has said on here is identical to what I dealt with now I am constantly watching my credit info even more! And being paranoid :( do not answer!!!!!!!!!!!

Got call today while napping. Couldnt fully hear message all I got was capital bank calling for.... and etc. if it is GE bank I recently purchased a new mattress and I know account is with GE but I do not plan on calling them back with that number I believe my bill had a different GE number3r to call

I was expecting this call and/or a statement in the mail. I purchased tires at Discount Tire a few days ago, 6mo same as cash promotion. I kept my financing application and it has the exact same name that was used by the caller "GE Capital Retail Bank". Thankfully I kept the additional papers and did not let the sales guy just throw it away. I normally don't called back numbers, but this was ok so far. I pressed "1" for English and "1" to verify my name, they thanked me for my recent purchase. I then opted to speak with an operator who asked my phone number, name, and last 4 of social. Scary info to give these days. I never give info to anyone that I do not know. They then told me information that was correct like, business name, total of purchase, and terms of financing. Now to not miss a month payment and to pay100% before 6 months expires or else they will hit me with hundreds in late fees and interest.

Vague message from GE Capital Bank about "recent activity on your account".  I confirmed the number matched the caller ID and then called back.  We recently purchased carpet, and they have the financing for it.  Basically just a computer telling us thank you for the purchase and to expect our monthly minimum payments, etc. to come soon.

NOT A SCAM!!!  Confirmation of purchase with Discount Tire Credit Card through GE Capital.  Nothing personal was asked.

I opened an account with Lencrafters through GE Capital Retail Bank.  I received a call from this number today welcoming me and thanking me for choosing GE Capital Retail Bank for my recent purchase of $367.50 on 11/10/13.  I DID NOT have to enter any personal information.  IT IS NOT A SCAM.  ALL OF THE INFO IT SUPPLIED ME WAS LEGITIMATE.  I DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO HIT ANY KEYS TO CONFIRM ANYTHING.  IT WAS SIMPLY A WELCOME TO GE CAPITAL RECORDED MESSAGE.

Same here. They called me to thank me for a recent purchase I made at Sleep Country and have me a rundown of how repayment works. No personal info asked (it was all a recording).

It's GE calling to confirm the credit account I opened at Discount Tire. If you call from the phone they called a all you have to do is press "1" for English and "1" to confirm your name. The recording thanks you for your purchase &  goes over the terms of the 0% financing & then gives you the option to be done or be connected with customer service.

Mine was not a scam: GE Capital Bank automated call asking for preferred language, phone number they left msg on, then confirmed all details of recent purchase - store financed 1 year same as cash through GE Capital.

I also got the call from GE Capital Bank which I did not recognize but since I deal with identity theft calls to me all the time I thought I would call back in case they were looking for the other person. I had in fact applied for a deferred payment card for a bowflex machine. It turned out to be the "Nautaulis Card" that I did apply for. It was not a scam and I am glad in this case they did call to confirm it was me.

If you’ve recently made an expensive purchase or needed financing for an item, GE Capital will call to confirm the recent activity on your card. As some people have already stated, Discount Tires (and other stores as well) allows their customers to purchase their new tires through GE Capitol if they qualify for financing. However, if you’ve received a message from GE Capital and you believe it to be an error, contact your bank or credit card immediately! Avoid call-back numbers and e-mails with links. Contact your bank or credit card company directly with their verifiable, known, legitimate telephone number or email address.

Legit call. I returned call and they thanked me for applying for a Discount Tire credit card and for purchasing tires. All I had to do was push 1 for English and listen to a recorded message. They even knew who I was, I guess with caller id.

No big deal, it was just a verification phone call from GE Capitol Retail Bank
I opened up an account thru Discount Tire, I bought new tires at 0%.
They ask for your telephone# and identify you that way and provide other information. Not a scam call

Call is from GE Capital. It was a legit call - we just opened an acct with them.

This is GE Capital for same as cash type purchases. I understand a lot of scammers are out there and if you haven't recently made a purchase on SAC then you probably should check your credit. This call was 100% legit. They never asked for SSN.  Info was pulled up on with phone number and an automated system explained the terms of SAC deal.
