I got a call from that number. The automated voice said it was from Citi Bank. When I called it they asked for my credit card number. I hung up and called Citi Bank number on the back of the card. They said there were no unusual charges.

This is a legit call.  I recvd a voice message from the CitiBank fraud alert dept and this recorded msg said to call 1-877-215-2648 and also provided an access code.  Turns out someone was attempting to use my AT+T Universal Card that day to place on-line orders.  CitiBank flagged it and called me.  After talking to them and letting them know I did not attempt to make the purchases described, they immediately shut down the credit card and will FedEx me new cards today.  Not sure what the fraud alert algorithm was but it worked in this case.

Correct this is legit call. Citibank does a great  job of flagging suspicious on line orders. They caught it, so now they will send me new cards. GREAT WORK!!!!!

Yes, this is Citicard/Citibank, I just verified the number by calling the number on the back of my card!  Citi is such a great company for fraud detection!

This is a LEGIT call number from Citibank.. this morning they called me, just asked me my passpord to the account, verified my account number then proceeded to ask me if I had made some random thousand dollars charges this mornign which i knew I hadn't so they closed my account.  Apparently someone got my number and they made fraudalent charges... NICE CATCH citi!! they're the best..... I also went online to review my account and it had an alert so I figured it was legit and they provided the same phone number on their website.

NEVER NEVER NEVER give your CC number in this way!!! Protect yourself. Take a minute, look on the "Citi" website and call that number and ask about charges. Give them the info. Smells fishy, don't trust strangers on the phone OR internet saying it's okay to give your CC# to someone you don't know at an unverified number.

Also inquire about the 877-215-2648 number you were given. If it winds up being a fraud, you can help prevent others from being scammed.

Yes, I did call the number on the back of my credit card and NOT the 877-215-2648 number. They confirmed the number as legit and proceeded to handle the fraud early warning issue. You don't need to call the Fraud Department - just go ahead and call customer service. I suspected I knew the charge they would question and I was right. It was a legit charge that they had all the info  they needed to verify within their own system. Just a less than smart fraud algorithm.

Yes. It seems to have been from Citi group. I, however, called the customer service number to ask about the call and not the 1-877-215-2648 number.

I concur, this is a legitimate number. No tricks. I did have a security block on my card (no fraud, just a mixup). But instead of calling the automated system, I called the main customer service line just to be sure that all the comments above aren't part of some elaborate scam. It's always safest to call the main phone number, even if you may have to wait on hold a bit.

Legit call from CitiBank.  There was fraudulent activity on my account.  Like most people, I called the normal customer service number listed on the back of my card.  That automatically directed me to the Fraud Early-Warning Detection Department.  I don't understand why they ask you to call a number that is not on the card, but I appreciate the early warning.

The call/voicemail is legit...  I had an interesting charge placed but it was legit...  If you do not feel comfortable with calling that 877 number because i did not, you should call the main customer service number on the back of the card and talk to a live customer service rep.

Hope that helps and please do not just ignore the warning.  They will stop the transaction and all future transactions if you do not call to clear up the fraud warning.  Nice feature to have if you ask me...

I received a call from that number but I called the Customer Service number instead.  The telephone number is a legitimate one, but I had never seen or heard of it and was suspicious.  I had recently placed an order from a new website and it triggered the Fraud Alert telephone call.  Fraud Alert is working, and I'm thankful for that.

The call was legit from CitiBank's Fraud-Early Warning Detection Department. I didn't call the number back, but called the number on the back of my card and was alerted to a recent purchase of $1000 to an online food store that I did not make.

Looks like my son buying books online for his classes triggered the fraud algorithm.

That number is good. It is Citi.
Don't you hate dealing with an automated machine that can not identify itself or be verified as the proper authority to help you (for real)

IMO.  Whenever you get a call or message from XYZ credit card company claiming bleh blah blah.  Just call the number on the back of your card and talked to a real person. That number should have some life ppl on the other end.  I chose to do that.  :) Good luck

Yes, this was a legit call from Citibank... I didn't call the 877- number but instead the one on the back of my my card.  Someone had run up several hundred dollars of fraudulent charges on my account over the past few days, and the Fraud Detection Alert caught it. Good catch on Citi's part.

Yup, mine was also an online order for textbooks that triggered the fraud alert.  It must be a common kind of fraud.

I called the number they left on the voice mail and was able to handle the entire transaction without giving them anything other than my ZIP code and verifying the last three transactions.
