- KathyThis is the Macy's Visa Star Reward company - does not look to see if you have paid the bill on line. Insist on your banking information. DO NOT GIVE THIS OUT TO ANYONE WHO CALLS YOU. MACY'S DID NOT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN I CALLED THEM DIRECTLY. THEY DID NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!!!
- Call type: Debt collector
- Sarah| 1 replyThank you Kathy for your time to submit this warning! It was extremely useful for others like myself who did online payments.
I got a call from 877-222-5857 and the guy said, he was from Macy's Visa Star Reward and his call was about my "past due" acnt so he insisted on paying it off immediately... on the phone
I called Macy's Visa directly - and it turned out that I did NOT have any late balance.
I guess, it's a good lesson for us: do not provide any information to suspicious callers. Instead, call your company back as soon as you hung up on that caller. - Macys CustomerHappened today to us - 1/18/09 - so they are persistent!
- MichelleThey've been calling me too, as I noticed on the caller id and today they called again, so when I spoke to them I had already Googled this number to see who was calling me and I made sure not to give them any info. My Macy's card has a $0 balance, so I knew they were lying...ha!
- AmandaThese people keep calling my mother's house where I have not lived for years and have nothing on my Macy's account about that address or phone number. Don't give these people any of your informatioin
- JohnGot a call today from them (from an Ohio number: 513-754-9822) asking to call back "about an important business matter"; they then gave this 877-222-5857 number to call back. They too said they were a 'sister company' of Macy's. Sure sounds like a scam ...
- PiperI received a call from this number last night, saying that I had a balance unpaid and they would waive the late fee if I did a "check" over the phone. I stated that I had paid my bill online through my bank's bill pay program. To make a long story short, the problem is that I/you actually have 2 accounts through Macy's. One is the Macy's store account, and the other is Macy's Visa account. If you look closely at the statements (separate) you'll note the 2 different account numbers. I recalled that I had in fact purchased something using the card as a Visa. Therein lies the problem. I had made a payment to Macy's, but NOT the Macy's Visa card. I called the phone number on the bill, and it was cleared up. They were able to transfer the payment from Macy's to Macy's Visa. They waived the late fee also. I set-up the separate bill pay account.
- Caller: Macy's Visa
- SoniaSMy Macys card was cancelled by Macys because of an info leak that made them unsafe (got a new one in the mail). Now, a month later I'm getting calls from OHIO 513-7549822 and Missouri 314-738-7500 all supposedly from Macys. The latter call left the return number 877-222-5857.I called them back and told them to remove me from their calling list. we'll see.
- Margo replies to SarahThank you for this info, but Federated owns both Macys and Bloomingdales, are calling me but don't leave a message and caller ID does not say which company is calling (good thing I found this website - very useful info here). I am late with payment to Bloomingdales. Why don't they just send me a letter?
- Jeannie LouI make sure never to provide my home phone number to any of my accounts or contacts because my parents are home more than I am. According to my mother, this number called for me and was very rude to her. The person on the phone was insisted on speaking with me or being given my cell phone number so that she could speak with me. She even yelled at my mother when she wouldn't provide saying, demanding to know who my mother was and what her relation to me was. She wouldn't even say what company she was calling from. My mother taught that she may be a debt collector (since debt collectors tend to be very aggressive over the phone), but I don't have any debts. My loans are still on hold because I am a full time student. I can only assume that this phone number belongs to a fake company who was going to try to trick me into giving them my personal or credit card information. If you see this number calling you, do not answer it. If you do answer, be careful what you say to them. You might inadvertently reveal your information to them, and even just your whole birth name could be used for fraud.
- Caller: No Company
- Call type: Telemarketer
- NancyGot a call from this number today. They called my cell and I didn't answer and let it go to voicemail. When I didn't answer that number, they called my work cell number right after. When I answered and asked what this is regarding, the person stated they needed to speak to me and to call (888) 222-5857 and speak with Tina Elephant. I asked what it was regarding and they would not tell me. Keep in mind I was saying I was someone other than myself since it was a work number but still. VERY ODD. No mention of Macys or of a business matter or anything like that. Seems like a scam.
- ElaineI received a call twice from 866-593-3926. When I called the number I got a recording saying that there was a high volume of calls and to call 877-222-5857. When I called the 2nd number, I got the same recording. I then called the phone number on the back of my card and funny thing. I got the same recording but was given a completely different 800 number. I don't know what to believe. Whatever is going on - no one gets my info and besides I have a zero balance.
- Caller: Macy's
