I have been receiving calls from this number for over a month now. They will leave a messages on my machine stating I have a unpaid student loan with the Board of Education. Thinking this could be a scam to get my SS# I never called them back because I never have had a loan from the BOE. Well, yesterday they called my place of work and contacted my payroll department to start garnishing my wages !! I called this man back: Tony Stevenson who claims to be dept collector. A real jerk!!
1.) he read off a SS# and asked me if it was mine., NO, it was not
2.) he read me off a date of birth, NO, not mine either
3.) then asked me if I went to Columbia College., NO, not me again
So then he got nasty stating hes got a lawyer working on this and they will verify my SS# with my payroll department, then start garnishing my wages..!!
When he asked me if the SS# he gave me was mine and I said no, there was a pause as if he wanted me to say, no mine is XXX-XX-XXXX..NOWAY, do not give him your SS#. When I and my payroll department called this number back, a person answered and said 'Hello' and didnt know who Tony Stevenson was at first then all the sudden was like, o ya, hold just a moment. Be leary of this, if I did have a loan from BOE, I would think they would contact me prior to going straight to a dept collector !!!

got a call almost identical to yours. Big Scam but must be fooling people and has been going on for over a year.  Who's in charge here? Maybe if we recategorize them as terrorists!
anyway other sites have comments that they are student load debt collectors but with no reason for the post, maybe they just believe the scammers. or the poster is one of the scammers.
anyway we have no student loans either.

This group is now handling out of date student loans.  As a tactic to enhance how much money the republicans can leave Washington with, student loans have been turned over( I'm sure there is money in there somewhere) to private companies.  Those of us who lost our jobs recently are now being harassed to help fund the banks and auto companies.  Call your credit card company or onstar you won't be talking to too many americans.  
 Also of note these folks have the legal authority to pursue you financially as if they where the government. Even if unemployed through no fault of your own these folks will continue to harass.  
 DOES ANYONE HAVE A PIPELINE TO OUR NEW PREZ OR A CIVIL RIGHTS LEGAL GROUP THAT CAN HELP.
 INTERESTING THAT.  FAT CATS LOSE OUR PENSION FUNDS, WE LOSE OUR JOBS...FAT CATS GET MONEY.  IF THIS BAILOUT, REALLY WAS NOT A SCAM THE MONEY SHOULD HAVE GONE TO PAY LOANS AND MORTGAGES FOR THOSE WHO ARE BEING LEFT BEHIND.  THEN THE MORTGAGES AND STUDENT LOANS COULD BE PAID, BANKS WOULD STILL END UP WITH MONEY.  INSTEAD THE BANKS ETC. GOT THE MONEY IN EXCHANGE ...FOR.......WAIT FOR IT.............NOTHING!  AND WE STILL OWE WHAT WE OWE AND SINCE WE ARE STILL TO BE TAXED FROM UNEMPLOYMENT AND OUR FUTURE JOB'S INCOME WE GET TO PAY OFF THEIR CORPORATE WELFARE AND OUR OWN DEBTS.
 MR. OBAMA PLEASE, I DO HOPE YOU CAN INSTILL SOME SENSE INTO THINGS.  YOUR JOB WILL BE FAR MORE DIFFICULT THAN WAS MR. CLINTON'S.  MAN, YOU ARE BEING LEFT A COUNTRY THAT HAS BEEN BLED.  FOR YOUR SAKE AND OURS', GOOD LUCK!

Progressive financial services student loan collection ... These guys collect on student loans
These guys are annoying some lady name "Candice Wright" keep calling me every single day. They have the nerve to call my boss and start saying "I HAVE A TIME SENSITIVE INFORMATION FOR YOUR EMPLOYEE" . I tell them to stop calling me and my work but they still call every day. They are going to get me fired.  Anyways After 2 weeks of candice's phone assault I decided to call her back.... She started demanding that i pay 400 dollars a month on some old AZZ student loan. I WORK MINIMUM WAGE... I have no car, and no savings.... I live pay check to pay check... I told her this but she is a well trained DOG.... she just keeps at it...  I found some information on some website made by a former collector and he talks about everything... Alll the nAsty tactics these collection agencies employ..... READ ABOUT YOUR OPTIONS... it turned out my payments were as low as 100 dollars a month.... THIS IS HIGHWAY ROBBERY.... PEOPLE YOU NEED TO BE INFORMED.... My blessings go out to you... Honest, hard working americans that are struggling....
