I get those too. They call, and then never pick up. Like a lousy automated dialer that no one monitors.
a quick google search says they are Mercantile Adjustment Bureau which is some shady collection agency. There are MANY complaints about these folks.

I just called them back. My phone number is only a week old. They said they were trying to reach a couple of people that I had never heard of before. When I told them the number was new to me, they said they would remove it from the account and flag it as bad contact info.

We shall see....

Call my number everyday looking for a person,to collect a debt.

This number calls me several times a day now, even though my number is on the government's do-not-call list.

they call me every day some time 3or 4 time a day. the person they ask for dont live here.

I did the same thing, the calls stopped briefly but have started up again. I continue to get recorded calls from this number on my company issued phone asking for a person taht I have never heard of that does not work at my organization.
If anyone has any suggestions on how to get these calls to stop I'd be forever grateful.

This is nuisance. These guys should pay for it. They keep on burning people's Cell phone minutes.
Has anyone reported them to BBB or Government agency.

Hi, I just read your post and I have been getting phone call from this number almost everyday (more than once a day!) for over 2 months, but on the machine it says that if I stay online that means I admit that I am the person they are trying to reach, so I can never talk to them and tell them I'm not the person they are trying to reach. Did they really remove you from their contact list? If so I want to call them too.

Mercantile Adjustment Scammers. These people are [***] horrid, they have unethical business practices, like to scam people via overblown payments. When you hand over information for a set payment, they double it when they have your info causing overdraw fees in your checking accounts.

Never these people, they're garbage and I'm personally surprised they've managed to stay in business. They buy debt for pennies off the dollar, horrible business, horrible tactics and a laughable threat. Mercantile can go blow me.

I've been receiving calls daily from this number since November 2010 and now I'm fed up with them!  You'd think they'd get the message when nobody responds after months!  So, I took action.  

I replied to their callback number 866-809-7506 on a Saturday afternoon. (hoping that no one would answer and I could just leave a voicemail ... and I was right)   I told them that such-and-such person "that you have been calling for does not live at this address and since you have called daily since November 2010, I will report both numbers 877-230-8371 and 866-809-7506, as well as a copy of the voicemail that you leave daily, to the FCC.  So please remove me from your list!"

Haven't received a call since.

I just spoke to a Byron Nerful at phone #716-929-8264 and HE told me that he was the "officaly number getter offer" and *promised* I will no longer get calls from 877-230-8371. So... everyone should call THIS dude!!!!

We constantly got calls from this number for months asking for a name of a person who we do not know, telling him to call them back at 866-809-7506. We called several times and told them our number was not associated with the person who their automated voice kept asking for. The calls continued. Finally we started harassing them. Calling and screaming at them, yelling, acting absurd (the whole time knowing they were seeing our phone number, which we did not care). finally one day I called and acting completely belligerent. Screaming, cursing.. the works (I had to do my best to keep from laughing). Well, the dude on the phone was actually kind of funny and assured me our number would be taken off their dialer. sure enough... it's been WEEKS and no more phone calls. Hooo raaayy!!!!! And I give credit to the that guy, he handled it really well. LOL


May I add, they are scammers who have already been shut down once. It's why they use this dummy phone number for incoming calls. Google 716-929-8264 and you'll see. It's the number the guy I spoke to gave me to call HIM back directly if we got anymore calls from them. This company are bottom feeders who try and collect years and years of old debt, none of which will EVER be taken off your credit report even if you do pay them!!!!

These people are FRAUDS!!! Even if the debt is your old debt, do not give them any money!! Scammers. Already been shut down once. Being investigated.

I have been getting calls daily from this number looking for a person I never heard of.  The recording tells me to disconnect the call if I am not this person, and I disconnect the call.  Next day they call again.  Today I called them back and told them I was not this person and to please stop calling me.  The guy on the other end had an attitude and told me to stop being rude,  Huh?  I asked him why asking him to stop calling was being rude.  He said I had  "snarky" tone of voice.  He finally said he would take my number off.  Let's hope they do.  If not, they are REALLY going to get a rude person on the line.

I receive this call all the time.  The message states "This call is for Robert Roche, if this is not Robert Roche, disconnect this call now".  I've been getting it for about 8 months now.  Not every day but a couple of times a week,  Any idea how to stop it?  I think if I stay on the line to talk to someone, I'll get scammed for something.

I have been getting calls for months and 3x a day.  They say they are Equity Assets and than later in the message Mercantile Adjustments something.  I even get calls after 9PM which is illegal to do and against the Fair Debt Collection Act.  I have reported them and have even told them I too a photo of the caller ID showing ther amount of calls per day and the late night one and they need to hault calling me.  Guess what they continue to call and I am being told they are being investigated but until than I am being harrassed.  Any suggestions?

I just called my cell phone company and asked them to permanently block this number to my cell phone.  They were more than happy to oblige. Hopefully this works.

Falsified claim without ANY supporting facts concerning said debts they are trying to collect; scum-sucking bottom feeders, and am doing my best to enlist legal resources within my state government to both prevent their activities and penalize them in the process!
