Says "... Calling with an important message...This is not a sales or marketing call... etc."  The recording never identified the company that originated the message.

I have been getting the same message for days in a row.  Each time I call, the representatives "can't find a record of my number," and then they have said they will leave my number with a "do not call" message.  I'm still getting the calls.

The caller id had 800-697-1234 and unknown name when I got a call with this message

i got the same phone call from 800-697-1234  and they say to call at the 877 # who is this ????

I asked these people who they are they said "Bay Area Credit Service, a risk management company."

AVOID THE RUN AROUND. GO STRAIGHT TO THE PROBLEM!

no credit problems that i know of - so i think i will ignore them :)

When you return the call , someone ask for your name, b day, social # and other important sensitive info, dont give it out.  They couldnt even tell me why I was being called and had no record of me other than my number.

Yup when you return their call they have no record of you ... they are a telemarketer in disguise.

Solve the problem and go to the FCC webpage and put your name & number(s) on the national do not call registry. Once you do that if they call you again you can sue them ... hooray!

I've received four calls the past week alone. Another four calls the previous week. I answered only once, and the caller asked for 'Bradley'. I told him there was no such person here and promptly hung up.

Got automated call from 877-230-9773 bay area credit service. I didn't want to call the number because I knew it was a scam. They were calling for somebody's last name named Vue??? HUH?? I don't owe anyone any money, so that's why it is a scam. If you do enough reading on the net you'll find out it is a scam. So just for the heck of it I went to their pathetic web site and called the 866 number just to see for myself it hopes of ripping someone a new one.. I get the same answer and hang up from their side. Think outside the box here. Why is their dialer going ape s^&@? Why do they call so much regardless if you've called them and told the biggest BIOTCH or [***] to take your number off their list? Work with me people. They wouldn't be sending the ape s^#& dialer out for nothin'. Maybe they are hoping that they can piss enough people off that those miffed people that are tired of all that ape s^^@ might call them back. Once you call them back, they record your phone number provided you don't have caller ID blocking. Who knows what they do with all those phone numbers. Maybe sell them especially if they can get a name and a SS # out of dummies.
They should write the book if they haven't already. "Scams for Dummies. A book on how to identify all types of Scams". My parents need to buy that book. They call me at least once a week with a letter, e-mail, or phone call of the scam type. They just refuse to let the answering machine do its job. My advice. Ignore them. Screen all calls. Better yet, get dial-up internet and surf the web ALL DAYY!

They call my cell and ask for my girlfriend...and the only way that's possible for them to have that number mixed ups is through our auto loan that we both signed on...so I have a beef with my auto loan company.

COLLECTION AGENCY FOR OLD AT&T PHONE BILLS

I'm glad I found this site....My name is Kevin & I am a Senior Network Designer for one of the Largest Telecom Companies in the United States. I have to post this actual event that took place over my CELL PHONE within the last week.I answered my cell since the area code looked familar. I said HELLO?.....  THis guy said "Hi..I'm Bill Turner from Bay Area Credit Services and we are a collection service in CA. I am calling you to request payment of $455.76 for an outstanding AT&T bill for your home phone." I said REALLY NOW? WHAT PHONE NUMBER IS TAGGED WITH THIS OUTSTANDING CLAIM?. He said " The number is ######(my CELL number).." I SAID ARE YOU SURE? THAT IS MY CELL # AND NOT A LAND LINE. He said "Oh... (Pause)... I'm sorry Keith.... you must have had an old Land Line before so that's what it is".. I said NO, FIRST OFF, MY NAME IS KEVIN, NOT KEITH AND I NEVER HAD AT&T OR A LAND LINE. I ALWAYS USE MY CELL AND FURTHER MORE I NEVER HAD AT&T. I HAVE VERIZON. He then says "Oh, well AT&T owns Verizon so it's the same company. I said NO SIR, THATS CRAZY SINCE I AM IN TELECOM AS AN ENGINEER SO YOU'LL HAVE TO DO BETTER THAN THAT... He paused for a second, put me on hold for 20 seconds and then said.... "I'm sorry Kyle, I was looking at the wrong screen, this claim is Medical and for an Ambulance Transport to the Hospital recently. I said INTERESTING SINCE I'VE NEVER BEEN IN AN AMBULANCE AND HAVEN'T BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL FOR AN ILLNESS IN MY LIFE. He pauses again and says this..."Oh, whatever... so are you gonna pay? I said NO DAMN WAY [***]. He says... "You're the [***]... just pay. I am trying to make a living here so just pay the fee dude so I can put food on the table for my family". I said WHATS MY NAME AGAIN?. He said "How the hell do I know that. I just want your Credit Card # NOW !!!"... So i hung up the phone. This was the biggest joke. I have received 2 other calls but changed my cell recently and am very happy since all has stopped. Yes, they are a SCAM !!!!

i've gotten the call 2 times already.  when i called back i got a machine. i'm 18 years old what debts are they collected from me? i've never even had a credit card.

this number has been calling me for weeks when I am not home.  I have no outstanding bills. How do we get this to stop?

I got a call for the same company.. asking me for $480. n some cents for my at&t ph line.. i had never had a at&t line so i denied to pay... however i called up at&t to cross check, assuming there cud have been some misunderstanding! n gess wat there was an uncleared bal; it was my son living in chicago who was using at&t u-verse under my name! anyway at&t wud not disclose balance to me as it was moved for collections... so i spk with my son n figured he was having some hard time so had not paid the bill... but he said it cud'nt hv been that high as it was just 2 months it was unpaid. So i called up these guys on the same number n asked for a bill at my address... person at the other end 'mike somthing' who cud barely spk english kept asking me to pay without trying to understand the situation, all i was asking was for a bill n i wud pay... he started asking for my bank a/c info and my credit card info... later the call was trasferd to 'so called' supervisor who was doing the same - asking for money - after a 20 min conversation they agreed to send a bill n said i'll receive it in 7 working days (collection notice)... but that to like 20 days! then i called back again but disputed the charge n got the bill setelled for $278, paid using credit card!
BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS WHEN I CHECKD MY CREDIT REPORT THIS BILL WAS ON IT!!! WHEN I ASKD THE GUY INITAILLY HE SD IT WASNT ON MY CREDIT REPORT! I CALLED THEM BACK AGAIN N FIGURED IT WAS WITHIN THOSE 20 DAYS PERIOD FOR A BILL THIS A/C GOT CREDIT REPORTED!!
its been 4 months now i am trying to get the off my report!!!

"Richard" called for previous owner of this phone #.

Line was crackly so I could barely understand the guy.
I explained it was now someone else's private cell #, and how for 2 years every known credit agency of the face of this earth has called for this person. [I've had to have legal 'cease & desist letters served to several of them]
He wanted to know how long back (over 2.5 years at least) it had become my phone #.
Asked him what company he was from, he said "Bay Area".
Claimed he would remove my # from call list.  
We'll see if I get another call.
If he does not remove me they'll be reported for violating the state & federal guidelines for debt collection.

This phone number keeps calling my work cell phone and is annoying. I answer and no one is at the other end. 877-230-9773
