it is a bill collector....they call me every day looking for someone else

This number leaves a message on my phone for Janabell Coffman.  That is not me.  I have only had this phone number for about 2 weeks now.  No idea who this person is.  Wish they would stop.  What company are they calling from ?

This call is for (they give a name) if you are not this person hang up.

So I was not the person they were looking for but I was curious as to who they were I called the number back. they answered with automated system:

YOU HAVE REACHED METROPOLITAN ASSOCIATES IF YOU KNOW YOUR PARTY'S EXTENSION ENTER IT NOW. IF YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR PARTY'S EXTENTION WAIT FOR THE NEXT ASSOCIATE.

yeah right......lol

FYI,

Debt Collectors are having a tougher time reaching people these days because of how disposable cell phones are. If they buy debts that are 10 years old, that number could have change hands 10 times by now. If you call and ask them politely to remove it, they almost surely will. If you are rude and demanding to them, they may leave it on just to annoy you.

Stop them people from calling us

They can't leave it on just to annoy you- that is harrassment!  if you don't know the person they are calling for then they need to remove the number.  My experience is that these collectors start out rude so it doesn't matter how nice you are to them, they only care about getting the 20 year old debt paid- regardless of the ruthless measures needed.

They called every day for over a month for someone with the same last name but no relation.  Very aggravating!  I called to have my number removed but we'll see what happens!  They said it was regarding a civil matter.

Does anyone know if this company of real or a scam??? My brother is getting calls looking for me with threats a civil suit has been filed against me.  This type information is personal and I don't live with him and never has so it's against the law to talk my personal business with anyone other than me.  If I owe the debt is one thing but the harrassing phone calls to other people beacuse someone else owe a debt and you are trying to reach them is unheard of.  All I want to know if this company is real or a total scam?

My friends parents just got the same call in regard to the civil threats a couple of days ago!  They called his mom's cell phone, and he can't figure out how anyone would even have her cell phone number, since he himself doesn't know it.

This is too funny!  I was on this site, reading the comments because this number called my land line earlier today.  Well, the phone rang and guess what the number was!?!  That's right...877-248-7281. I answered it, and it was a recording for Priscilla somebody (couldn't understand the last name).  Anyway, the recording identified the company as Vanderbilt & Associates.  The recording said if they had the wrong person, to call the number back. So I did and talked to a nice guy. I told him that I didn't know Priscilla and I've only had this number for 2 months. We'll see if that does any good. If not, luckily my Panasonic cordless phone lets me block up to 30 numbers, so I'll just add this to the list.

Just got a call from Vanderbilt & Associates.  They asked if I was XYZ.  I told "Miss Rodriguez" that I am not XYZ nor am I a friend of XYZ.  XYZ is the ex-husband of my wife...they divorced 12 years ago.  She hasn't been in contact with him for 12 years. Miss Rodriguez would not tell be what the purpose of the call was, how she got my phone #, and hung up on me.  This same company called my wife a couple days ago.  Per usual, I shouldn't have answered the phone...

Definitely scammers.

Which is probably why their company is in the Old Cheney Plaza, a little hole-in-the-wall strip mall.

Got the same message "call Bank of America".  I have alerts on all my accounts and there is nothing on my account and I have not received any emails. This is a scam.  My son got the same message on his cell.  I have a US cell number but I live in another country and nobody has my number except family!
