    Received a call Feb 13, 2008, from a machine recording stating that it was Wells Fargo card services and that my card had not been activated so I needed to call 877-294-6933 to activate it.  I don't have an account with Wells Fargo.

    I received a call on 06/17/08 (for the second time this year) from a machine recording stating that it was Wells Fargo card services and that my card had not been activated so I needed to punch in my card #.  It didn’t specify credit or check card.  I do not have a credit card with Wells Fargo.  They also gave the option of calling 877-294-6933 to activate it.  

    I did call and gave a phony credit card # and after navigating around the menu options, it was dumped into an actual Wells Fargo person.

    Wells Fargo Card Services welcoming me as a new cardholder, which I am not.

    The recording says I need to activate my card.  The "Thanks, Bye!" at the end didn't sound as if it was a professional recording. If it is from WF, they need to rethink their marketing plan.

    I received a phone call welcoming as a new Wells Fargo customer and I dont even have an account with them. They emphazise to call to 877-294-6933 to activate the checking account.

    Don't call
    Same as everyone else.  Wells Fargo claiming I need to activate my card.  Sorry, don't have one.  Bad marketing on Wells Fargos part.

    It is an official Wells Fargo call, those of you that don't have the account someone listed the wrong number on there account, or got a different new number. Call and have them remove your number and state you don't have an account.

    Received the same message.  Just called the 800 number for Wells Fargo (from the website).  The rep tried calling the 877 number and said it was disconnected.  We do have a Wells Fargo account and she did confirm that a new card was sent due to the card being at risk but that card was sent a week ago (before we received this call).

    Recording that starts "Hey, this is Wendy with Wells Fargo Bank..." To activate our card. Bad message that sounded cheesey and very unprofessional, PLUS we are not WF customers. Hmmm...

    The exact thing just happened to me! So I called and they have my SSN! Should I be concerned??

    Yes, you probably should be concerned. It's a scam, it's been going around for a bit. They tell you that you need to activate your card, take all of your information, and then drain your bank account and anything else that they can get their hands on.

    When dealing with sensitive information like your card number, SSN, Pin, etc... never, never give it to someone who called you no matter who they say that they are. You only give it out over the phone if you called the company, you know who they are, and you got the number from a reputable source (IE, the back of your credit card, or something). The only time you give it to someone who called you is if you knew they were going to call you; it was pre-arranged.

    They're at it again folks. I do have a wells account but knew better than to play this game. I called wells CSR and they were aware this was going on again and it has even hit the new channels. Talked with security and fraud and they were aware as well. Said it appears to be come from our friends in South America but that's all they would say.

    Bottom line is NEVER give out account information to ANYONE calling you. Hang up and call the number on the back of YOUR card to see if there's a problem.

    So they claim to be Wells Fargo...asking u to call back to activate your card...... when u call back they ask for your card number.....then they get all your hard earned money......don't call back....
    I called them back and as I gave them my number I realized I hadn't even asked for a new card......yikes.....so I hung up...
    Then I called my local branch ...... they looked up the number and determined it was a fraudulent caller......

    It's not Wells Fargo calling you..... don't give them your info......caution.....
    Make these losers beg for money on the streets instead of stealing it ..!!!!!

    Not sure why they are calling me.....My card is good to go....So how did they get my phone number if they are not Wells Fargo and WHY would anyone  punch in your personal information OVER THE PHONE..   SCAMMERS are everywhere

    I got the same call I do NOT bank with Wells Fargo and have NOT applied for any credit card. The give a way was the recording when the girl said thanks, good bye..the way she said it just didn't sound right.

    Had a missed call and checked this site.  I do have Wells Fargo accounts and just activated a new account and card a few days before this call came in.  aggravating!!
