This company - Windsor - also collects/reposesses for Capital One Auto Finance.  Cap. One sends the account out fast.  After calling this company to pay off my account, they act like they don't know anything about what Capital One is saying or doing and they definitely have their own agenda and would not answer any questions directly.  The female I am dealing with (Sylva @ extension 1190) doesn't even sound educated enough to complete a grammatically correct sentence.  Stay on your toes when dealing with these guys.

Actually, since I work for the company I suppose I should TRY and state another side of the coin.

Someone took an item from a comapny, promised to pay for it, insure it and return it if they could not continue to pay for it.

Now, that person hides it, does not insure it, disposes of it, refuses to communicate with the legal owner and refuses to return the property.

That lender has no recourse but to hire skip tracers to try and find the 'culprit' (for lack of a better word).

We look for the person(s) and try to make contact. But, to our suprise, they hide not only themselves, but the property that rightfully belongs to the lender.

So, we hunt for them and the property. Sometimes we have to resort to using past contact number and addresses (and yes, I'll admit, some of them are outdated) and we have to resort to checking with relatives and neighbors and others who may help us locate the property in question.

It is unfortunate that sometimes we talk to people who do not know the 'culprit' and other times (most) they lie to us in order to perpetuate the hiding of the property that belongs to someone else.

Now understand. We are paid employees with experience in finding very hard to find people and property. We don't collect debts so we don't focus on any obligations, or debts or anything but the property that belongs to someone else. We want to restore it to the rightful owners. Period.

We do not mean to harrass and for the times it seems we are doing so, I apologize for myself.

I would point out that usually, a simple call to tell us we are on the wrong track, you have no knowledge or don't want to help, will end it. We are following information that indicates you may be able to help us locate this property and that's all we are interested in. Not your identity, or your finances or anything else.

Folks, I have to tell you that I have no less than 4 accounts with people who tell me they have our clients property and simply refuse to return it. They laugh about it. They don;t care that mom co-signed this loan or even worse, she made the loan herself and gave the property to a son, grandson, whatever. They then refuse to return the property and don't care that mom is the legally bound person.

I mean, come on. If I leave you a message I am simply asking for help. If you know nothing I will do my level best to see that you are never contacted again. I can't say that I'm perfect, but I will do my level best.

In addition, if you ARE the one who can help us locate this property we can negotiate a VERY simple return with no recriminations and the matter ENDS. We are never heard of again.

There is no excuse for rudeness or harassment, but, there is a legitimate need for our calls. Every one of these pieces of property not returned cost you and I tax money and other less obvious things.

I know this will be contraversial. I just felt like it needed to be said.

And, by the way, we ARE NOT a collection agency. There seems to be some haziness about this, but we are not. Our department is skip tracing and asset recovery ONLY!

I received a phone call asking for information on my brother - the call had me twitchy as I investigate massive fraud rings for my company. A lot of 'social engineering' information was asked. I later called my brother and he stated it was a rental company that he's a week late on. Okay - that's fine - but this company called me previously and I told them - I do not have any business with you. I do not have to do business with you - do not call this number again.

So when the woman called yesterday - and I asked - 'What is this regarding' - she lied and said, "He would like to purchase something. Her name is Leah out of Aaron's Rental in Newark NJ.  

I'm not the deadbeat here - and she is a lying liar.  And so is that company.  In my brief research this morning - because she pretexted and phished and socially engineered - I believe I'm with in my rights to not only contact the Attorney General of NY - but that of NJ as well . . . where I live - and where my brother has NEVER lived.

I'm gonna get her and get her good.

dear windsor employee....i have someone from your company looking for an ex spouse.....now.......we have not been married for over 15 years..........my new spouse does not appreciate the calls..........how would you like it if i called you repeatedly about an ex-spouse or ex-lover and their financial mishaps.....do you want me to keep calling you.......?   well why are you calling me?  this is why we get frustrated.  why are you calling people who have nothing to do with this debt...........I PAY MY DEBTS why do i need to be harrassed by your company that has nothing to do with me.

getting calls saying they are a "location Firm".........great now debt collectors have a new term because they know you won't return a call from a debt collector.   I do not owe anyone any money....in fact if have 8 clients that owe me money......they are calling about a debt from an ex-spouse from 15 years ago.........why am i getting harrassed over their money mismanagement.....

How dare your company & coworker at Ext 1160, call my home asking the whereabouts of some man I've never heard of and demanding that I call them back. I'm not calling you back because my time is valuable and will not be wasted talking with you. Even if I did know the man, I still wouldn't call you and certainly wouldn't help you find him. You will always get the answering machine so do your job and leave me the hell alone!!!
