Caller told us to call back. When we called back they asked if our social security number was xxxx and when we said no they asked if we knew xxx and it wasn't anyone we knew. When we said no they just hung up. Filed complaint with Sherriff's dept as a possible fraud.

Most calls of this nature are often collection agencies. It is usually wise to have the person they are asking for call back and find out what it is regarding. Legally they cannot discuss what it is regarding unless they properly verify the person they are asking for is in fact the one they are speaking with. If they have a ss# chances are it is a legitimate call; however ask for their company name and website, and check the the BBB as well. There have been cases of fraud in the past, and it is certainly wise to tread carefully. If you are receiving mail from these people then it is probably important. Checking your credit for anything you may have forgotten to pay could be helpful too. Little things like switching your cable or cell phone service before their contracts are finished can lead to a debt you didn't realize existed. It doesn't hurt to double check. I hope this information answers peoples questions, and please apply caution in case it is a sham.

Called my office.. asking for two people I never heard of and one of my coworkers. I called back and asked for the two individuals he mentioned (I got the same guy that called) earlier.. and when he said they were not there, I told him they were not here either and to never call back as this is a business and we need to keep our IB lines open for business. His call was recorded BTW.. we record all IB/OB calls.

This number is one used by Portfolio Recovery, a collection agency.  Another number they use (there's a bunch) is 877-430-2355.  They called after 9pm last night and at 8:19 am this morning.  From what I've found, they harass and even threaten arrest, most debts they're trying to collect are too old to legally be collected.  BEWARE

This number (877-297-3159) is on my blocked caller list on my cell phone yet they are still able to leave voicemails.  That should not happen, so they're doing something sleazy to get past that.

The calls are from RPM, messages are a bot, not human.

They call 2x/day every single day sometimes at odd hours.

All the person would say is I am a debt collector. Call back now!

Calling on my new cell number so I am sure it is not for me

I also have a fairly new number (about 4 months old) and have been receiving calls from this group for the past 3 months.  I did try to call back and inquire about the call and was met with a very rude person.  I explained I just received the new number and had no clue who the person was they were asking for.  They argues with me that I was the person since I had the number.  I kindly asked them to remove the number from their call listing.  Apparently they have not as I received 3 calls yesterday and 2 already this morning.  I guess I will have to change numbers if this does not cease.

Depending on your state they cannot call more then 3 times a day or it's harassment. Also depending on the state they cannot leave a voicemail. Look up the state laws on collection calls. If you tell them to remove the number they have to or that's harassment also. Keep the number be you might be able to press charges against the company.

I don't know if  is a company o a person the what I know a receive a calls when I pick up  the call that person said my name my last name my address  and I said who you are and she handle the phone on my and keep  calling  me but don't talk is make scare  from where  had my information

They call 2 -3 times  day. I do not answer. I figure it is some kind of scam.   I want it stopped. I do not owe anyone so they should not be calling me.

Called and they were nice and removed number from their list haven't called back since
