- Collie| 1 replyGot a call from them claiming to be from Microsoft and notice that I have a visus on my computer.
- Mo replies to CollieI just got a call from this number, the guy said he was from Microsoft Windows, and that I had a problem with an encrypted code that I wasn't aware of. Right. I got in his face as much as possible on the phone. I asked his name, and his ID number. He said, "Why should I give you my ID number?" Anyway, he said his name was Nick Hayden, I'm sure he was lying. I called the number back, and it was all garbled sounding. Total b.s.

- Caller: Windows
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Don Cowettejust got a call which sounded suspicious. Asked them for the call back number and this is what they gave me. Indian accents but when asked he said they're located in Deleware.
- Caller: 'Windows"
- MikeThanks for the warning. They just called me, and gave me the spiel about a virus that has been on my machine for a long time. I won't call them back after hearing what happened to you guys.
I ran an anti virus scan with my resident MS Security Essentials, plus on demand scans from Malware Bytes, Super AntiSpyware, and EmsiSoft Emergency Kits over the last few days. I'm not sure what all these scanners could have missed. Microsoft makes the Security Essentials product. If it really were Microsoft calling, they would have put the virus signature into their data base, and Security Essentials would have removed the problem. - Marie| 5 repliesMy husband just got a phone call which he handed over to me. This person gave me that phone number to call and gave his name as PATEL. Because I fear these types of phone calls and because I could not see Microsoft calling me because of a problem, I hung up.
- Not Fooled replies to Marie| 4 repliesJust got the call from John Patel myself. Claimed to be from Windows Tech. Dept. Gave me the 877.315.0746 number. Garbling sounding message... couldn't understand him at all the whole time. Hung up after getting his name and number. I agree with a previous poster that Microsoft does a lot of auto-updates anyhow, plus I have a good anti-virus, anti-spam software that auto-updates, so I should never be getting calls from either company.
Hope this helps the next folks. - Jeff replies to Not Fooled| 3 repliesJohn Patel called me at home this past Saturday...same scam. It sounded fishy so I asked for phone # and called back, got "Nick" the "supervisor". I didnt let them go through the whole process. I hung up and called Microsoft who confirmed that it was a scam.
- No Idiot| 1 replyGot a call today from these people ... My dad started doing what they asked, then my daughter ran in and told him to hang up because it was a scam. He called back and said we didn't have authorization to hang up ... she hung up again. He called back again. This time I told him I knew it was a scam because in the history of Windows they have never called to tell me something was wrong. He then told me he wanted me to take off all of my clothes so he could f*** me. Hung up again.
Will be reporting through AT&T obscene phone call department.
BTW, the physical address they list in Tampa is actually a vet clinic. Did more research and they are definately based in India. Would have let this one go except for the very crude comments he made. Will report here if I find out any more information, or get anywhere with the authorities.- Caller: LiveWindowsSupport.us

- nick replies to Jeff| 2 replieshow you can say this is a scam..?
- david replies to No Idiotdo not give any kind of wrong information do not comment anything wrong about you dont know any thing i got lot of help from this people
- George replies to nick| 1 replyEasy question and easy answer! It is a scam because Microsoft have a warning on their website telling people that anyone 'phoning saying they can see errors on our computers is a liar. Anyone who says they want remote access to"fix" these non existent errors is a scammer and a thief. No-one should every do anything which these cold callers ask them to do. There, is that simple enough for you?? But then you knew that didn't you?
- judy replies to Georgepeople commenting on this number all are fool does not know anything i got lot of help from them they also help me to get my money back those who scammed me and still they provide me the service i am very kind to them.
- B| 1 replyScam, beware. Tried get $ from me to unlock my computer. He was very computer savvy and convincing. Seemed like a tech trained by Microsoft and had info only a Microsoft insider could have known..
- Jeeves replies to BWhen you say "info only a Microsoft insider could have known" was this by any chance what they called your "Unique ID"? They often claim to know this and tell you where to look and, surprise, surprise, the numbers match. That is because what they actually give you is the Windows Licence number which is the same on every computer in the world which runs Windows. It all comes down to what a previous poster has written, which is that there is a warning about this scam on the Microsoft website. They tell you that they and their associates never 'phone individuals and that anyone who does 'phone is a scammer.
