My sister called a said someone from this number called her had a case pending against someone with her name and wanted to verify if that was her need the last four of her social and her birth date to verify. They got it from her. She said the company was a Tony Scott
After getting the information said it was not her that the case was about it was a different Karen L. Wright.

I have gotten the same calls. Same story. I refused to give my ssn and the woman told me I will just have to go to court.  Scam working off of fear. Your sister is about to have her identity stolen.

I got the same call yesterday (April 2, 2012), as a message left on my answering machine. Caller was a "Toni Burk" and she said there were "charges and a claim against me," and that I have been "officially notified," and that I needed to call back to resolve the claim against me.  Haven't called them back yet, but I also suspect it's a scam.  If they were legitimate, they would either have given a company name, or they wouldn't have sounded so threatening. Real companies may hold back some info to protect the privacy of the person receiving the call (saying things like, "we can't discuss the nature of the call unless we are talking to the real phone call recipient"), but then they would NOT go and leave such threatening details on an answering machine message - it certainly does not protect the privacy of the recipient.  So I agree with Robert - If they're asking for your SSN, it's probably identity theft.

My wifes ex got a call from the same number wanting my wifes info, I looked it up online, they are a SCAM:, never give your SSN to anyone,I worked legal in the military protecting soldiers from scammers like this who stole their identities because they used scare tactics like they have a warrant out for your arrest, which is all bull, if you had a warrant the police would come look for you if you are a major threat to society, or if it involves a malicious crime, they don't come break your door down for money owed or a pending law suit. If they need to verify your persons info they can do it in court. a SSN is not required nor are any other information other than your name, address to file a suit against you. Ask what their law firm name is, address. Tell them they can call your lawyer if you have one and see if they hang up, they may call your bluff but do not fall for it,  if a warrant was issued legally only law enforcement would issue it, not a law firm. there is a protocol for pending litigation, bottom lime if they provide you with company name and number and a point of contact, see a lawyer, it could save you time and being ripped off.

they called wanting my moms personal info, her SSN and her moms name, they said they are a pre litigation firm they keep calling saying she is going to have a warrant issued and they need to verify my moms info.

A person by the name of Michael Evans called two days ago saying that he is trying to locate a person.  He said the phone number he has for this person is no longer in use and if I could give him a phone number or place of employment for this person because he needed to serve a summons that day.  He stated that he is a Private Locator trying to find this person for State Wide Legal Services and gave the number 877-340-9184 and a claim number. If this person did not call this number by a certain time, then a warrant would be issued and a summons to appear in court.  He called again today and I told him that I checked the number he provided and found that this just a scam.  All he said was "well, this person will have to deal with the court", and then hung up.

A person named Donna Powers called for my wife. She also called my wife's phone. Claimed that she has claim #11074 and she needs to verify my wife's address and place of employment. Sounds like the same scam calls that I've received, only this time it's a woman calling. We're choosing to ignore these calls and see what happens. Most likely nothing.

I received a call today & I asked the lady to identify what company she was calling from & she refused. She kept saying her name was Audrey Hunter & that I had charges & a claim against me. I hung up & she called back leaving a threatening voicemail about how she needs my address & place of employment. Won't be getting a call from me. I recently had my identity stolen & I'm thinking that this is a scam as well.

This is now my second call in a week from a Donna Powers (made up generic name given is my guess) and she has stated that I need to call the mediation firm to resolve this matter at 877-340-9184.

Today I received this:

I am calling again to inform you that you have had the opportunity to contact the firm handling your claim, ma’am at this point I have verified your address for service of process for the claim against me “that I have officially been notified and that this is my final notification”…blah blah blah….

Again no one in their right mind has ever ever given a “heads-up” that you will be served.  If she wants to pursue this and try serving me, then go for it.  My place of employment is instructed to state I am not here and my residence has no trespassing signs all over with beware of dog (152 lb guard dog)  and violators can and will be shot.  Good luck with whomever you think you might have…. I am so fed up with the calls that I beg this person to serve me at this point.

They called me too. I laffed at them and then they sent someone to my aunts house where i use to live. i paid off my debt because it not worth the hassle and it would cost me alot more cash.
