Due to shrinking call lists United Blood Services thinks they have no choice but to call donors repetitively to get what they need and want....Blood...free blood in which they turn arround and make profit off of. How else can they pay for those huge blood mobiles? The best way to get off the list is to contact the corporate office and request that they remove all numbers associated with you the donor. When I first started working at the calll center we simply called the old fashion way by picking up the phone and dialing. Now becuase the center saw an increase in productivity from donors the upper management decided to add a dialer system call "The DiALER" or its proper name "SER". calls were increased exponentialy and the number of complaints rose. I felt terrible about all the complaints i recieved as a supervisor however i needed to put food on the table and pay my bills so I hope you dont hate me to much! I quit becuase of the unethical practices at the work place to include walking in on the director half nude in her office gross!! I have made several complaints and basicaly the Hr dept shruggged off any complaint that I had. Whatever! im doing so much better now that UBS is in my past ! Sorry for all the calls trust me when i say that the calls will not stop!!

Oh and one more thing!! Did you know the call center has a pre set goal to meet every month. What i mean is that say for example for the month of January the center has to make its goal of 1,000 Whole blood units for a particular center. So if the center half way through the month is not making goal the call center implements strategies to gain some ground in order to hit its goal. Thus you receive more calls!! The entire year is set up with particular goals for each month and the goals are not met the supervisors at the call center are the ones to blame...just thought you would like to know!! Oh and if the center exceeds its goal and if the center stops taking a particular blood type in called a "suppression" then the clinics may have to discard units of blood becuase of overflow and experation. Yes I know i sound like an upset former employee however the truth is appparent...UBS calls way to much and the intentions are to make a profit!!

Keep getting calls from this #.  I don't answer, they don't leave messages.  Nice to know who is calling.  I am on a non-solicitation list.  Are they in violation?

They are not in violation if you ever donated blood and gave them your number. If however you have NEVER donated and given your phone number, then yes they are. Unfortunately, it is sometimes hard to get them to stop anyway. I usually threaten with lawsuit, it works with some, some not, depends how persistent they are. United Blood is a business though and can be reported too the BBB.

Found this on another site about this number. This may help the repeated nagging phone calls.

    Go to bloodhero.com.
Log in with your donor ID number and go to your profile (they can look up your ID number if you don't have your card).
Your phone number will be listed and it will say 'Opt Out: No'.
Change it to yes and submit.

LenaLee---That was so-o-o-o kind of you to post that information. I have received SO MANY calls from them for over a year; at 9:30 at night, on Sundays---Sure, they need blood. But that doesn't justify harassing people. I found it quite frightening at first, before I did a lot of searching to find out who was calling me at all these odd hours. Many thanks for your kindness.

    Hello Former UBS employee
Thanks for the information. As you can see I am a new employee. I have not started class yet but I will be soon. This seemed like a good chance to do something good while working part-time and having time for my family. I have been doing call center most of my working life but not out bound. Can you tell me how the goals work for the employee?  What do we say to customers? Is it like a boiler room? All info that you give me will be greatly appreciated.
P.S--I never though blood would ever get thrown away..This came as a shock.
    Thanks for all your input

My husband and daughter have donated blood in the past, but my daughter no longer lives here, and my husband is so tired of receiving calls that he is not wanting to donate blood anymore!!!  It is not necessary to call people and beg for blood.  He gives through his employment at the company headquarters.  It is done on a regular basis, and he is not going to drop everything and run out somewhere to give more blood just because someone keeps harassing us on the phone.  This approach will turn people off from giving blood, because it causes otherwise generous and loving folks to feel tormented.
