This is the legitimate Medco online pharmacy automated payment application phone number.  They call when they need to verify a mailing address, payment, or something else related to a prescription.   www.medco.com

The message was an automated one, very vague, about some order they couldn't process without more info. And no specific person with whom to talk.  I haven't placed any orders in the last 6 months.  So I knew the 'message' was invalid.  And very annoying.

Thanks for the info about Medco. We do us Medco, but have never had a strange phone call like this one.  Perhaps they need to reconsider their approach to customer service.

I got one of these calls at 6:01 PM while I was busy at a church function and did not know what the number was, so I ignored it.  The automated voice was asking my voice mail questions that I could not respond to, so I missed what they were trying to ask.

Ellen said "Perhaps they need to reconsider their approach to customer service."  I concur.  Do not call me at night or at 6:00 PM and don't send a "robot" for me to respond to.  I guess I now know I will not be getting my medication on time now.  i will take my burliness locally and get it today.

I am forced by my health insurance to use Medco, but I do not mind paying more to someone who can provide better service.

When I answered the call, no response was given.  I hung up and called back, since I had the phone number on my cell.  The automatic voice immediately mentioned some payment required, but did not provide who I had called.  It then asked from my birthdate.  I hung up.  My plan is to call Medco and confirm this is truely their number and complain, if it is.

Lucky for you the call ended when it did or you could have finished last and been out of the money.

Express Scripts has the worst customer service and generic prescription delivery logistics. CR's are poorly trained, ambiguous and careless in how they market their services. They act like a bunch of corporate pirates.

This is the number for an automated system that Express Scripts uses when they are processing an order and need approval to bill the amount of the script.  During set-up of one's account the end-user is asked to designate an amount that can be billed with no question.  If a subsequent order is more than that amount their system calls the number on file and an interactive voice response system conducts the call to speak the amount and ask for permission to bill.  Since it is an automated system it isn't programmed to carry on a conversation so that is why it seems mysterious, but if you are an Express Scripts member it makes sense when you answer the question or call back to the number and follow the prompts.

When Express Script calls using this number it comes up showing either out of area or unknown number. So if we receive a phone call  that I don’t know the number or if a name is unknown to me I will not answer it. They can leave a message with name and number for us to get back with them. Which they use an automated system so it doesn’t work.
I also don’t like getting a phone call from some person, business or etc. asking to speak to me using an automated phone system and then placing me on hold thinking that’s alright to do ~ which isn’t because I have better and probably more important things to do than to wait on the person who called me ~ now if I call them I would understand and be ok with it.
