Asked for someone who did not live here. Left a number to call back.

Wells Fargo Auto Finance.  After I called them back, they said they didn't know why they called me, because they don't telemarket from this number, and I don't have an account with them.  The only thing they could come up with is that someone used me as a reference and they were checking the reference.

Called after working hrs. (5.30 p.m.) and asked for my colleague with the bad attitude.  I asked where are you calling from, she repeated my question, "Where am I calling from, why you need to know?...South Dakota".  I asked what is it regarding...she replied with a taugh voice "it's personal business".  

It is from Well Fargo called reg. my colleague's car finance.  I'm quite sure it's illegal to call a business number w/o authorization.  Also, if this woman call to a business place, she then supposed to know better to contact during business hrs and with good business manner!!!

It is illegal, if it is constant and harrassing.

yes it is illegal and your experience must be from breaking the law..typical response..never done business with this company, they call, they get blocked..lol...what's your extension at Wells Fargo?

I got a couple calls from this number and another associated with the same people over a period of a couple days. Finally they left a message asking for an 'Emily and Nathan' I'd never heard of. When they inevitably called again, I answered. (The lady seemed shocked that someone had picked up and almost didn't know how to respond after I said 'Hello?') She asked if I was Emily, and I told her that no, I wasn't, and I'd received several calls from this number, but they really had the wrong people. She asked how long I'd had the number... well, since I first got a cell phone when I was about 12, so quite some time now. The lady really was very nice, though, and apologized and said that she'd get the number taken out of their system.

Here's hoping that's the truth. And that some of you who've had rude experiences will get the chance to clear things up with the apparently one nice lady calling from the number.

It is NOT illegal.  there is a reason they are calling him/her at work...They aren't answering at home.  if they don't want calls at work, grow a pair and pick up the phone.  quit being a coward, answer your phone and pay your car payments.  If you don't want calls at work, just say "DONT CALL ME AT WORK".  It's a verbal cease and desist and they can't call after that.  However, that CAN call once a month after that to verify employment and can then leave a message.  they can also call you at work even if there is a C&D to let you know they're coming to repo your car.
