The call rings and when you pick up...it hangs up instantly. Nuisance caller.

Caller calls for days on end and hangs up.  Total slimeball.

Caller said he was a public defender in Dilltown PA and told his granddaughter was in a car accident and was in jail w a DUI and needed $2000 to wire money to defend her in jail.

calls saying hes a public defender in MN but gets the name of the County wrong. Says he needs money for grandchild that's in jail...  targets older people

This is a scam - same thing happened to a friend of mine today!  1/3/2018

Caller wanted money from the grandmother.  He actually called pretending to be the grandson.  In the hysterical voice they use, the grandmother would never know it was not really the grandson.  Claims grandson is in an accident and was presently in jail.  He can keep it off his Juvenile record if I wire a couple grand to an address out in Pennsylvania quickly (mind you this is a state very far away from the state where the grandson supposedly got into the accident and is locked up).  I called the county public defender's office and they had no record of the employment of the "public defender's name" I was given by the scammer.  I then called my county courthouse's jail (which the scam caller had no idea which one he was in) and there was no record of the grandson's detention.  I called the local police department who laughed and said they hear this scam all the time.  They looked up his name and had no record of his arrest.  Finally we got a hold of the grandson and he was just fine.  If you quiz the caller in depth about the details of the "incident", you can sense the holes in the story and his lack of knowing the exact location of the "incident" or what jail he is in.
