Left a message on my cell phone-I think the name was Ms. Jackson-stated that she was calling from EWA and that 25% of my salary is going to be garnished. Said to give her a call and good luck to me.

I received a message on my voicemail at work from a Mrs. Gary at work today. I called back and asked who I was speaking with and the lady identified herself as Mrs. Perkins.  She said she was collecting for an online Pay day loan (United Cash Advance) which I have never taken out or applied for.  I work in collections so I am well aware of the FCDPA laws. I immediately asked for her to send me some information by mail to validate the debt. I told her I had not gotten anything by mail and am unaware of the debt.  She said she already had sent me something and this was going to processing for a garnishment. I told her I had never been served with a lawsuit and they do not have judgment against me. She said they don't need judgement ( which is a lie). I then said I wanted to dispute the debt since I was unaware of the debt and she said I cannot do that because it is too old. Every collections agency MUST provide you with proof of the debt when it is disputed so it can be validated. I then asked to speak to her supervisor or boss which she said I cannot speak to them and that they are not in.  I then asked for her location and company name. She said she is located in Nebraska and the company name is E.W.A. If you look on the Nebraska Secretary of State you will find that there is no such business with the name E.W.A.!!! Becareful. WHATEVEAR YOU DO, do not give out any personal information, not even your last name. Tell them you will file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office and FBI.  Hopefully this will get them to leave you alone. If they have any personal information I would suggest getting a credit report, looking it over and filing a police report so you can put a freeze on it to preven identity fraud!! Good luck! :)

I got a call from this number on my work phone, Mrs Hardy informed me they were going to garnish my wages. (a word of advice contact your payroll department notify them of scam) So I ask why she said I took a payday loan out through Personal Payday Advance (not a lender) she could not tell me what company gave me this loan. Nor could she give me exact date when this loan was taken out just said sometime between 2008 and 2010 they said because of it be so far behind instead of the original $300.00 loan it was now $1400.00. I have used cash advance before this is not the way they do business. They would settle today for $ 300.00 paid in full. I informed her I needed her phone number so I could check my records. She gave it to me and I called it back another woman answered and said it was E.W.A RECOVERY. when I ask for information she said Talk to Mrs Hardy or I will not give you more information. So they have acess to more than just your personal phone number.

I rec'd the same call from a Ms Perkins a few months ago at first i thought that I did owe for a loan but after doing some research I was to stop them from getting some money from my account. And every since then they have been calling me from this number and each time it was a different person.the previous time it was from a Ms Parker talking about how they were going to garnish my wages. I informed her i needed documentation but she claims that I rec'd it.I informed her no one sent me nothing and i do not owe anyone. When I told her i was reporting her to the attorney general she said that she didn't care. Then today I get another call from a Ms Charlotte from a different number  630-486-1900 claims that she is from E.W.A Recovery and that I owe for a cash advaance loan she had the bank that i deal with and my address. I advised when was this suppose to be taken out she claims 2008 each time someone calls its a different date. I told her that no one sent anything to she claims they sent seven letter and was returned to sender I advised her I never rec'd anything. Sse said that she would be sending a certified letter to my job informing them of this. Let her know that this is a scam she said I not arguing with you and you take it up with the judge. Just be aware these people will try anything to get money.

My boss had a voicemail from a Mrs. Jackson-saying she was the wage garnishment manager and she needs me to contact them ASAP.   She left the number of 1-877-601-5871.   When i called it back its an answering service, you have to re-give the phone number you just dialed in order for them to tell you the company your calling!!  WHAT???   This supposed answering service couldnt even tell me wat EWA stood for, or what kind of service they provided.   Regardless, i was freaking out someone is going to garnish me for god only knows what!   When you google this EWA all i get is some welfare info, or some chick who sings.   Who are these people adn why are they calling my EMPLOYER!   Grrr!   Sure glad i found this page!

Thank you, I received on cell phone looking for my husband about a payday loan from Jan. 2010 or Jan 2011 not clear, that the loan was for the amount of $550 and now with all penlaties is upto $1050. She (Ms. Campbell) also would not give information on the original company. I ask for to send something to email address, her reply we dont do that. I got frustrated the call came from 630-486-1900 to call 877-601-5871, also an extention of XXX with acount number XXXXX. She keep on and on that if did not make arrangments that His drivers license would be supsended. The more asking questions the more she got hateful.

I get calls from this number as well and they threaten to call my supervisor which is no longer my supervisor. a Debt collection agency cannot suspend your license.  the people that can do that is a judge, or if you are behind on child support they will suspend you license.  not a place you owe money to.

Just checked my voicemail and received a call from a lady who identified herself as Ms. Perkins from EWA saying she was giving me a courtesy call about a possible wage garnishment. What a  load of crap. In the last year I have received several calls like this one and I never give them any personal information. You can threaten them with the attorney general or FBI they don't care. They never do anything just try to scare people into giving them money. The best thing to do is put an alert on your credit report and join a company like lifelock for extra protection. Thats what I have done and it has worked out fine for me.

I had a call from Ms. Parker last week and said I owe money from a payday (which I never done before) she said the debt was $1050 around that ball park and if I wanted to settle it I can just pay $300. If I didn't pay there will be wage garnishment. I started to freak out! I She said if I fax her my bank statement from 2008 till present then maybe it can be waived. I checked my statement and nothing from payday for $300 was ever deposited in my account.

What should I do now? I was about to fax them my bank statement now I don't want to. Should I ignore them and can they just take 25% out of my pay?

Please help and thanks in advance!

The E.W.A. address & info floating around is incorrect.  That address belongs to Sallie Mae Credit Card Billing & the correct link for that address is as follows:

    https://www.statementlook.com/fdr/jsp/stateme ... 08001&PID=STATE

    Billing Inquiries
    Sallie Mae Credit Card Billing
    P.O. Box 2988
    Omaha, NE 68103-2988

I don’t know where to find information on the fake company E.W.A., but if anyone does, PLEASE POST! An email address, website or mailing address would be lovely!

Wow - received a letter from Card Services, POB 2988, Omaha, NE 68103-2988.

    *  many, many calls from "Card Services" in the past.  I block their number each and every time.   They refuse to disclose information to me about the reason of the call.  At most I can get it's about my VISA or Mastercard.

    * a letter came with the above heading and address.  It references my unused cc that will soon expire.  I am instructed to call immediately 800-821-5184 so they will renew my cc or I can just my card asap...  still can't figure out what cc they are talking about...

    * "as a Visa credit cardholder, you receive excellent benefits such as:"  it goes on to list things...and again encourages me to call.

Really?   All of the cc proudly include their known name, from the issuing authority (bank, store, etc).

    Sounds scammy to me!
