I received a call but I didn't answer. I was busy.

This is the toll-free number for Statistic's Canada, at their Regional Office in Edmonton, Alberta. By calling this number, and quoting the number you were called at, or the Reference Number that was left on your answering machine, you can verify what they were calling you about.
There are many reasons you could be contacted, but it all depends if you have a Refernce Number or not.
Since Statistic's Canada is a recognized part of the Federal Government, it is not included with the "Do Not Call List (DNCL)." If you take the time to see what companies are exempt from the DNCL, you will see "Statistic's Canada" mentioned, under "Statistical Operations."

This is not Statistic's Canada. This is a scam. Beware!

This IS Statistics Canada. However it might be fair to consider Statistics Canada a scam that one should be aware of.

This number when called will lead you to an American call center.  Not Edmonton.  Beware.

I have had three different numbers call me from Edmonton since Jan 25 from the following numbers:

All have said they were statistics Canada in the voicemails they have left me. First number called around 8:30am the other two numbers both called close to 6pm stating I should call them back and refer to my reference number which was two letters and my phone number. Is this legit? I haven't answered any of these calls yet.

Voice messages from callers without any reference to the subject matter of the call.  Cryptic file numbers are quoted and they expect a return call.  No detail, no return calls.

In the past week I have had almost 30 calls from 1 877 504 7828. They call right up to 10:00 at night. I originally answered the first call and said I was retired a lived alone. The guy said he wanted me to answer more questions.....I said no way. I don't know who you are or why you want information on me and I hung up. They have since left a file number but I could not make it out on my answering machine....what do you think I should do....rather unsettling.

Mike are  you sure you are referring to 877 604 7828? I have had almost 30 calls. Today I only got 3 so far, the other day there were 8 calls when I got home. They usually hang up but only one left a file number but I could not figure it all out.....I find these calls unsettling....not sure how to make them stop.

I don't care who it 3 times I have told them not to call.  today they told me that they will be calling this afternoon unless i answer their questions

Get a call blocker for I presume your landline, or get your phone company to block the number.

yes, I think that if it really was Stats Canada, they wouldn't be so persistent in getting hold of us.  I worked for stats Canada and we didn't bug people like this to do surveys.  Watch out for these people

I have been getting call from this number for a few days, no message, but lots of calls.  I have blocked this number.  In the meantime as a GC employee from another department, I have contacted the Department of Statistics directly regarding this number and possible SCAM!  Future legal action will follow if required.

These people at 877 604 7828 have been harassing us for over 6 months,  They just will to the no for an answer.

Hi this is Tanya from Statistics Canada & I hung up.  I have blocked this number from my phone.

I got a call as well Oct 14 2018.   I was told the same thing I have been on some statistics Canada sight some have shown this number but another Stat.Can show for the west 1-866-4454323 I never knew they this on the phone the lady said they have does this for years so what about the picture ID we need to see I am stilling into.

rec'd phone call 9.07am 30/11/2018 replied 9.50am same day asked question re 3 0f employee working as at Nov1,2018 and any available vacancies

2018 Dec 21 at 0811: "Good morning my name is Roy Golumbus with Statistics Canada please call us back...um". Click. Didn't leave a callback number or reason for calling. Seems fishy
Caller ID says Stats Canada

Received calls from this # multiple times at odd hours - early morning and late at night. They claim they're doing a survey for housing. What BS! My mother worked for Stats Can for 30 years and said this just doesn't happen. It's a phishing scam. Beware.

Not 100% sure if 877-604-7828 is associated with a scam or not but leading towards scam.  I missed the call and a message was left.  The caller left their first and last name, said they were with Stats Canada, caller id said Stats Canada, I was provided with a call back number (same number as noted above) and a reference number to quote.  When I phoned back the automated system said "the office is now closed and to call back during normal business hours"  1 pm in any province is still a regular business time, last I checked.
