I asked our Wells Fargo business banker about this number and he said it is a SCAM and to ignore it.  They called us on a SUNDAY claiming to be from the overdraft department.  What bank is open on Sunday.  Scammers.

It's not a scam, you need to learn how to keep a positve balance in your checking accout.

Got a recorded call for a fictitious person. If I am not that person call 877-647-8551 to take off calling list. When I called they asked for my account #, I said I don't know what it is. They then asked for my social security # and I said I don't think so. At which time they disconnected. SCAM - Ripoff - Identity theft, Be very careful

This number IS wells fargo overdraft! Call the number on the back of your card and ask for the overdraft number they will give you this number.. or a 877-647-8552... They hung up on your because you wouldn't verify who you are, the only way to search for an account in this department is by the account number or social if you provide neither they will tell you to go to the branch or just hangup and not waste their time when other people are trying to correct their accounts.

They were trying to reach my daughter. I asked who was calling and they replied Wells Fargo.

This number has been calling my work number many times leaving a voice message.  They are leaving a message for someone that is NOT me.  I called the number and the first thing they asked for was my social security number.  ah, NO way!  I asked what they are calling about, collections? (as the calls are so persistent!)  This is Wells Fargo, this is all I can say.   I gave her the number they were calling, and it was not on their records.  I kept talking as I was saying how these calls were very anoying, funny, she had already hung up!!!!   I'll call the local branch now and see if they know about these calls.

Called claiming to be Bill Me Later, wanting my credit card number or checking account number to pay past due bill.  I told them I would be handling my bill on the website like I always do, and they said they no longer accept online payments.  I hung up and called the number back and they didn't identify which company they were.  Very suspicious, sounds like a scam.  Am reporting to FTC.  

877-647-8551 is the Wells Fargo early overdraft department... if you call them you will hear the onboarding messages (welcome to wells fargo). *Remember to keep the phone to your ear after you press the buttons on the phone so that you can hear this is typically important when making phone calls.* Is there any bank, or business for that matter that wouldnt verify who is calling before releasing private information (especially if your overdrawn)?

This # keeps calling.  I ignore it.  They never leave a message.  From reading the previous posts it looks like its a Wells Fargo number, however we don't and never have banked w/them...There isn't even one in our town.  Persistant little

IF this is Wells Fargo Bank overdraft then why are they calling a phone number I've had for years asking for someone else? I NEVER had any Wells Fargo or Wachovia account ever and never heard of the person they keep calling for. Called a local Wells Fargo Bank and asked why they're calling for someone else to a land line number I've had for years and never received any Wells Fargo calls before Sunday morning? The 2 phone numbers I gave them that are calling they said do NOT belong to any Wells Fargo Bank or Office of any kind. This is a SCHEME they said and don't answer it or give any information out over the phone to whoever keeps calling claiming to be Wells Fargo. ANYBODY can set up an answering machine and state any name they want to that does not mean it's a legit call.

Who are you to tell anyone how to run their affairs?

I do not bank and have never banked with Wells Fargo. This is a scam.

This number called my company and the foreign gentleman identified himself as being from Wells Fargo. He asked for two people who are deceased. Once I let him know, he still wanted all the private information he could get on them. I know for a fact that their accounts with WF were closed months ago and all information was given to the bank at that time. This is 100% scam.

The call I received from this number was Wells Fargo, looking to collect a debt from a person I'd never heard of. They were polite and took my number off the call list when they realized I wasn't the person they were looking for.

It is Wells Fargo, and there was an auto bill pay overdraft in an account of a deceased family member that was supposedly closed (our fault).

I was going to ignore this number as most of the notes that have been posted said. I'm glad I didn't ignore it. It just happens to be the Wells Fargo Fraud Notification Department. Someone from another state had made a purchase of almost $900 and were stopped from making another 2 weeks ago using my Wells Fargo Check Card.
For the people  that are skeptics, if you go to https://online.wellsfargo.com/das/cgi-bin/ses ... bZB5V7gZSWL-vvU and log in to your Account Summary and look at the Transactions listed; if the account is overdrawn there will be a note that states, "Your account is overdrawn. Please make a deposit or transfer funds from another account or call us at 1-877-647-8551."
So yes this number is quite correct.
They may be phoning your number by mistake if someone that banks with them haven't changed their contact number and the old number is yours. Or I'm sure there are fraudulent people that might have used your number for their contact number.

They ask me for my SSN right away and that is a big NO NO!!!
I talked to Wellsfargo and they confirmed that calls from this number are a scam!
