I got a call stating I won a Mexican vacation all inclusive. I called the number back and it was a recording stating that I had to go to a reception to claim the vacation. I am wary. They say there is no obligation to buy anything... any help?

This is a slick telemarketing outfit alerting "winners" of a 3 day Mexican Riviera Cruise + $100 gas money.
Alert: Did they know your name before calling you? NO!
They operate under the name America West Promotional Department or Goodtime Vacations.
Why do they require that you have 50K verifiable income? Why do they require a credit card?
BECAUSE THIS IS A SCAM - DON'T GET TAKEN !!

Same scam call here in Phoenix area.  Left message telling me my "winning card was pulled" last year and that I won an all-inclusive Mexican Riveria cruise + 100 in free gas.  That would be great had I entered any contest.  Total scam, don't fall for it.

Got a call from these guys with the same offer, and the lie about a signup at some event.  They claimed to be associated with Westar Advertising, which is also probably false--I got a very similar call late last year that claimed to be associated with SamStar Advertising.

I too received a call today stating that I won a 3 day trip.  Recording said if you're located in Arizona, press 1, if you're located in Illinois, press 2 and if you feel that you were reached in error press 3 to be added to the "Do Not Call Registry".  I always like to try to reach a live person and then scream as loud as I can!  Hopefully they won't call me back.

This phone# just called me on my cellphone, Dont get me wrong, I could use a vacation and some free gas $ - but don't fall for these pranksters gimmicks.

I got a call on my cell phone.  I couldn't understand what the person was saying, and hung up.  Maybe a few hundred phone call from me via skype will learn 'em!

The call came to my cell phone, and they didn't know my name, only "you and your spouse have won." The offer was for round-trip airfare from O'Hare, free 2-night stay at a Marriot, and $200 gas.  

They never stated which company they were with and required a response within 24 hours.

I too received a call from this number about a half-hour ago ON MY DAMN CELL PHONE. Since I was on the other line, it went to voicemail and it was a lady (recording of course) by the name of Mary. She said she was with the promotional offices of AWA - whatever the hell that is - and that I submitted my name and number in a drawing last year. I can assure you I did no such thing.

She was promoting 2 free round-trip airline tickets to any location within in the continental US and free hotel accommodations for 3 days and nights. BS! I didn't call back. And yes, she also offered free gas. WTF. SCAM.

same phone number just called me said they were american west/ awa.  said i enter a sweepstakes blah blah same as everyone else.  sounded familiar to the post card announcments and phone call i got last year.  also found out my wife and father got the same call yesterday.  definitly sounds shady.

Yeah they just called me 5 minutes ago and left a voicemail.  Hate this crap.  Had something like this happen last year, except I had answered the call while at work, guy talked to me for like 40 minutes to try to send me a gas card if I signed up for like a coupon program for $20/month after the first month.  Total crap

First my girlfriend got this call on her cell, then I did too, same as Lea in Illinois with the mention of O'Hare, $200 for Gas and a stay at Marriot.

The lady did sound very strange, and far too excited and loud to sound real. I've won sweepstakes before, you don't get a call from people like that, stating everything over the phone.

Just got the call waiting for my bus, it wasn't any area code I called. They said I won airfare anywhere in the us with free accommodations and $200 in gas. They said I entered it at one of their conventions last year... I only went to a wedding convention last year and I don't give my cellphone number freely. Definitely a scam, and I'm not going to be scammed again.

5pm & I just got this.  I too got it on my cell phone and am not pleased about that.  I am careful not to give out my cell phone #, and yet this happens.  Plus, a month or two ago, I got a spam call from a different scam, followed by another a few nights later (same one though).  Why is this happening to cell phones, too!?  Was email not good enough for the Nigerians?

I just now got a call from this number but I did pick up. They left me a voice mail saying that i won some sort of trip....definitely a scam.

Says I won airfare for 2, 2-3 nights at Marriott or Hyatt, and $200 gas. 24 hours to verify

Im not supposed to use a cell phone at work. When it rang, I thought maybe there was an emergency at home, so I picked up and found I won a wonderful vacation - how nice...wish I had their personal phone number to bother them right back.

Scam... Scam... Scam... Got the call not 30 minutes ago.  Left a Name.  Mary from AWA, telling me that a family member's name was pulled and we won round trip airfare for 2 and $200 in Gas.  But, have to call back in 24 hours...  This is a direct work line number with the message left.  Give me a break... Total Scam.

I got called about 30 mins ago.  I didn't recognize the # so I didn't answer.  They left voicemail.  A very hyper marketing/sales lady said she was from AWA and that me and my spouse won airlines tickets to anywhere in USA and also $200 in gasoline money.  YIPPEE!!! I can quit my job!  My dreams have been answered!!!  NOT
