this is a collections or skip tracer number. Best thing you can do is not answer unrecognized phone numbers - or go buy a cheap burner trac phone and close your regular account, which is what I am going to do. Registered Mom and myself with the FCC "do not call" registry - hasn't worked yet.

Said his name was Tom, asked to speak to my husband, but refused to tell me who he worked for.
debt collector
I also get a phone call from it. He kept saying that hes a debt collector. But he refuse to tell me more information.
I got a call from this number. There was an automated voice that asked if I was "Matthew N*******". It then asked me to select 1 for Yes, and 2 for No
Since they call did not begin with who the company was I chose to hang up. Perhaps I am paranoid, but if they are phishing for name verifications or other information I do not want to acknowledge them.
Whatever. If they are legit and want to talk to me they will call back and leave a message stating the intended business and nature of the call. Otherwise it is just junk.
I've gotten a call from this number once a week, on Monday mid-morning, for the past month and a half. I am always at work and can't answer, but the person never leaves a message. I assume I shouldn't call back -- does anyone have other ideas?- Call type: Debt collector
- DogloverNumber on caller ID. Don't know who it is, did not leave a message.
- Jing| 2 repliesThe caller called my employer asking for my boss. They sais it is a personal business matter, but wouldn't say anything else. The caller said her name was Jenny Todd.
- Caller: unknown
- DogloverGetting repeated calls from this number. They tell me that --- needs to call Jason at 877-765-7021. I called the number and said this number was on a do not call list and I would report them if they kept calling because person they asked for is not here.
- AnonymousThis is a legit collection agency. They have been calling to resolve outstanding payments I have with UW Physicians. They are generally okay to work with and will put holds on the collections calls as long as you check in with them periodically about your financial situation. As far as collection agencies go, these agents seemed a lot more professional and courteous than others.

- DiThey seem to be somewhat professional however asking me why they called when they called me and then laughing is not professional. UW physicians for me also.

- Cindy replies to JingIt against the law to contact your employer
- VickiThey just keep calling, and won't give up. If they are professionals why don't they say who they are when they call the first time? Most professional agents would.
- 8776928196They don't leave a message, and they call about twice a week. I will not answer.

- Gloria TReceived call they left voicemail for me to return call said it is an attempt to collect a debt. I returned call someone answered I asked where they were calling from person knew my name then hung up.

- BrokeHe called and tried to help me with support with getting my email but I belive his was email hacker trying to get money
- TinaCollecting for the UW, violates the FDCPA. Their address is State Collection Services P.O. Box 6250 Madison, WI 53716 I am disabled, and they rang my number over 100 times this morning in a clear attempt to harass. I will send them a letter stating not to contact me in any way, and a letter to the State for violations of the fair debt collection practices act.

- Anonymous| 1 replySomeone named called name Beverly and asked if my name was ________. I said yes. Then they said the call was being recorded and said they wanted to confirm some personal questions they wanted to confirm. At that point I said I don't know who this is and hung up. If someone does not tell me first who they represent I hang up. I'm not so paranoid I won't say yes this is _________ but if they don't ID themselves right away and who they represent I just hang up. That is what I suggest you do. They are calling me and it's on them to ID themselves. The number shows up on a BS not legit bill I got from State Collection Services P.O. Box 6250 Madison, WI 53716. This phone number is on the bill I responded to and proved it was BS. Many of these companies 2nd and 3rd time collection things they pick up in a pool of supposed unpaid bills they really know nothing about. They are just trying to make money and stay in business weather it's legit or not they don't care so next time they call don't answer.

- LauraOn all calls you should ask for their employer information and ask for an employee ID number, address, contact information, websites, whatever, make them answer the questions! Admit nothing and for sure don't give any sensitive info. Also start keeping a log of calls made noting the conversation. Your problem is the dunning letter, they may have illegally left out the part explaining your rights to dispute the debt. see
http://debtclear.com/debt-relief/your-rights- ... sponsibilities/ but also check out your rights under FDCPA https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemak ... ctices-act-text also check out your rights under FCRA https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemak ... t-reporting-act Terms like CFPB, State Attorney General, your states FDCPA may also help. - NoahI received several phone calls from this number over a five day period. Two consecutive phone calls on a Monday, and one phone call on a Friday. They didn't leave a message. So, I Google'd the number and found another thread saying it was bogus and to be ignored. Then I happened to find this thread and it mentioned UW Physicians. I had recently gone to a UW Neighborhood Clinic; once in June, and once in January of this year. I never answered the phone calls from the debt collector because I didn't recognize the number and they didn't leave a message. But this thread brought me to call up the UW physicians clinic I had visited, and I spoke with their billing department. It appears that they had the wrong address for my account, and thus, I had never received any bills from them in the mail. I gave them the correct address. I paid off the amount I owed over the phone, and didn't have any late fees. It was easy to take care of, but I find it frustrating that I never received a voice mail from the debt collectors. I urge you to look into this matter if you receive a phone call from this number. I could have ended up owing a lot if I had simply forgotten about it. Thank goodness for this thread! Good luck to all.

- FrankConfusing thread with defined violations under http://files.consumerfinance.gov/f/201307_cfp ... e-practices.pdf combined with violations under state and federal FDCPA. There is a UW Physicians out of Seattle, Washington but there is also a UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin. There is a State Collection Service Inc. in Wisconsin http://www.bbb.org/wisconsin/business-reviews ... on-wi-13003285/ Their BBB report shows their Business Category as Collection Agencies and Collection Systems, Collection Agencies (NAICS: 561440). Within this thread are examples of skip tracing / location with them calling relatives, friends, and others under their network.

- KenI received an obnoxious call from this number (877-692-8196) that started out with a phone tree maze of options. I selected the option to talk to a person. A woman came on and asked my full name, my birthday, and my address, but she wouldn't tell me the company she worked for??? WTF? I of course didn't give any info to this unethical collection company. I googled the phone number and found this awesome thread about what appears to be collections for the U.W. Neighborhood Clinic. I went to the clinic a month ago when I had the flu I paid my co-pay and have valid insurance. Again I say WTF? U.W. Medicine / Neighborhood Clinics should send a letter, but instead they sic this unethical collection company on their patients. I will call the clinic tomorrow and pay whatever 5 or 10 dollars they want and then find another doctor. Shame on you U.W.Medicine, and shame on you unknown collection company.

- Jane doe replies to JingThe same thing just happened to me and they asked for my dad. I have no idea how they got my number but I kept asking her what she was calling about and she just kept repeating it's a personal business matter. It was 'jenny something' and she wouldn't give me any other info and immediately I felt uncomfortable so I told her that he wasn't available. Im not going to play that. People can easily scam over the phone.
- JohnThe caller asked for personal information and refused to identify himself fully. He did have some personal information but when he claimed that he could not identify himself I hung up on him.
- Caller: Refused to identify
