I live in Texas and I got a letter from Bennett Law on behalf of Target Corporation asking for $500. The phone number on the letter is 877 749-7707  email address is major@blrecovery.com  Fax: 801-432-2956. The Utah address is on the stationary. But there is a Midvale, UT PO Box 9163 on the letter also.

Please send me checks on file, so we can get this situation resolved as soon as possible

Actually, our office DOES have a license to practice law in Nevada.  Indeed, we have an office open there.  In addition, the Federal Fair Debt Collections Practices Act applies to debt generated in consumer transactions.  Please note that the transactions on behalf of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. are not of that nature.

i got a letter from 1-877-749-2501 my first hint that its not real is the place he states i got the product can we get some one to stop this

I was sued for a $1,100 debt almost 3 years ago, and the creditor was awarded a judgement.  I'm on disability and use a good friends bank account.  I have no assets, and no credit.  They really can't touch me.  Today I got a letter threatening to sue me again for the same debt, which I'm pretty sure is illegal.  Either they're trying to pull a fast one or can't get their records straight.  

Funny thing is, they sued in district court, and I thought that anything under $7500 in Utah was supposed to go through small claims.  I'm just going to sit back and wait to see what they try to do.  Might be entertaining.

Yeah, Bennett Law calls us, too. Maybe 10 times a day! My daughter was involved in a minor infraction at a Walmart store and then WM sued my daughter for it..(OMG, they suck). She was on medication that she went off cold-turkey without the advice of her GP. It caused severe depression, and this incident happened. She is unable to work, so I am paying the bill to keep this assh0le from calling anymore. They have ZERO heart. Greedy, unfriendly losers. (Out if Midland, UT they said)

So did you pay them the $500? I got the same letter.

If you settle with them get the paperwork, they messed up my paperwork and had their computer call me and when I finally called them back they admitted the mistake and said they were going to go ahead and settle the account again!  If I don't get a letter from them (because they don't FAX), I"m going to have my attorney go after them for being so sloppy with their paperwork.

All you have to do is fax them at 801-432-2956 a letter requesting validation of the debt. This way they have to provide you with their license number for your state and any paperwork associated with the debt within 30 days or they have to close your account.

So when they sue you what happened after?

I received a letter from this company called Bennett Law yesterday due to a case that was occured at Target. On the letter they say that this office has been retained by Target Corporation to pursue recovery of civil damages. I called them today and they wanted me to make payment arrangements with them. My total settlement is $540.83 (which is I think ridiculous coz the total amount was only $289.99). I have my own private lawyer and I don't know if I am going to talk to my lawyer about this. And I am pretty scared that if I paid this settlement with this Bennett company, how sure I am that they will not go against me again???? Please I need an answer.

The Bennett law firm is one sleazy outfit!  They are crooks with a license.  Definitely a bottom feeder law firm!
