What does the debt collector have to tell me about the debt?

Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.

False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:  falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives; falsely claim that you have committed a crime; falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company; misrepresent the amount you owe; indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.

Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that: you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt; they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.

So in my ohh so delightful interactions with Hearsh and Kemp they have:

To my mother:  Threatened to charge me with perjury, illegal money trasnfers and are taking me to court the very next day if I did not pay.  

To my best friend:  Indicate I am being sued and have other legal matter pending in a florida court.

To me:  REFUSED to provide WRITTEN validation of the debt in question and 'claimed' to be collecting for Cash Advance USA who after I talked to them have no record of me EVER using their services.  

Cash Advance USA is very upset you are falsly using their name to defraud people, they have all your contact data and are have assigned their own lawyers to look into your SCAMMING [***]!!!

I received a call from 877-787-4717, the person proceeded to tell me that I had written a bad check. He refused to tell me the amount, to whom it was supposedly written or to even pronounce my last name correctly. I asked if he could send me something in writing and he just kept telling me that I would be arrested! He didn't tell me the name of the company he was calling from, either. Can they do this? How is this even legal? When I asked him what information he had, such as my address, place of employment, etc., he became angry and hung up on me.
