- HarrietActually I received a letter from a Stephanie Marshall, Manager- Credit Relief Division and the 877 Number to call to reduce one's debt. The letter claims to have info from Equifax and pre qualifies me for dept reduction. The Economic Stimulus Act of 2009 was quoted as the reason for my letter and debt solution.
- jackreceived the letter, searched the web - its a scum
https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-877-811-1409 - mbreceived letter in mail about Economic Stimulus Package. googled the telephone # and this is what I found!! Another crock!!
- DougI got a letter from a Stephanie Marshall, Manager- Credit Relief Division with the number 877-811-1409 to call to become debt free in as little as 12-36 months. The letter claims to have info from Equifax, claimed I was pre qualified and gave me a case number to reference if I call. The Economic Stimulus Act of 2009 was quoted and the letter was addressed from 1050 Connecticut Ave NW 10TH Floor, Washington, DC 20036 USA. I was led to believe the letter was from the U.S. Government. I guess people would do anything these days to get you!
- ikGot a letter with a Washington DC address pretending this was a gov't official notification, scary part is they had the amount of my debt listed on the form. Where would they have gotten that information. Gave case number and the 877-811-1409 number to call. Glad I checked it out and found out it was a scam. Anyone know how they got the debt amount?
- BillGot the same letter, looked up the telephone number and was glad to see these other notes. That helps, someone out there always wants to get the little man. How can they get by with making it look like a Letter from the Government.
- RSmittyJust got this letter with this phone # on it...BEWARE! It says "HR - 5140 Economic Stimulus Act of 2009." Be aware that HR5140 was the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008, NOT 2009! Not to mention, if you do a fair number of searches on either the 2008 or 2009 act, there is NO consumer debt relief. So far, this "company"-slash-whatever they are seems like total BS.
- pccYep! Same number 877-811-1409, same letter, same Stephanie Marshall. Glad I found this. Smelled like a scam...but they are getting more clever. Creeps.
- Christy McEldoonI also received a letter and never called, just checking to see if it was a scam.
- MBI received the same letter. I was surprised they know how much is my debt. I was checking if it was a scam. I'm so glad i found all of this. It was too good to be real.
- K.C.figured it was a scam...thank goodness I found this page.
- LLYeap I received the letter. I conclude that it is scam. Thank you for this page.
- BHsent me a letter with a lot of personal info on it. who are these guys? claimed to be representing government program. What the heck is 5140? When I called some guy said his name was John, who the hell is John???.
- StephenI received the letter today. HR 5140 was the House of Representives Bill that created the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 as someone mentioned below, not 2009 like the letter says. It looks and sounds very official. More than like they checked the credit bureau(s) to get our debt amounts. I have been googling the address and have yet to come up with a company/phone number that matches the letter. Yep, this is real scum of the earth preying on people who are already struggling. I checked with the US DOJ, US Postal Service, and Whitehouse.gov and they make no mention of this fraud. It is too bad the Stimuloud package didn't really include something like this. That would have been truly helpful to eliminate one of the biggest problems that ails this country... "CREDIT." Good Blog, Glad people are out here and researching & discussing this kind of stuff before falling for it and losing more. Thanks all!
- JillI Recieved the same letter. Googled the address and got the website for Lee Legal, a bankruptcy lawyer. This is a scam! The worst part is that they make the letter look like it is official, from the government. Sure glad I found this page!
- the pruneHere is a list of what I found out ... I would not trust this phone number nor sites connected with it

has a listed website: www.creditrelieftoday.com
My computer warned that it might be dangerous for me to go to this site
So I did not pursue this site further - JulieReceived the letter not a call but the number listed on the letter was 877-811-1409. When there was NO name of a company on the letter I immediately felt it was a fraud although they try and use the government seal on the envelope and letterhead. My real concern is that Equifax is allowing them access to our credit reports with NO permission or authorization from us. You realize this is birthdates, social security, employment EVERYTHING!!! Also, the envelope is stamped with a warning proported to come from the "U.S. Mail Secretary, 170B. This is material for the FBI as one cannot represent themselves as a US government employee or agency without committing a felony federal offense.
- maryjust received same type letter with name stephanie marshall. different phone number: 866-708-0008 and new address 601 pennsylvania ane. nw south building suite 900 washington dc. if not a fraud would not change these very important facts
- Here to help youI found out who is calling you! I received a very official looking letter in the mail claiming to be a debt settlement program created in conjunction with the Governmental Economic Stimulus Act of 2009. Guess what? The contact phone number is 877-811-1409. (however, this number is most likely linked to a call center & not to Lee Legal directly. Call his office number & bombard them with calls telling him we're not going to take it anymore!!) Guess who it is from? Attorney Lee Legal, 1050 Connecticut Ave NW 10th Floor, Washington, DC 20036. His contact number is: 202-448-5136. His web site is: http://www.lee-legal.com//contact.php. His email address is: contact@lee-legal.com. On his web site contact info you can send him an inquiry. I did, asked him to remove my name from his mailing list & also asked him HOW HE SLEPT AT NIGHT.
