Got a call from a Melissa Brown.  She said she was coming by my house & place of employment today.  Not even sure what it's about.

I got the same call and she said that she was coming to my mothers house on aug 17 of which is my dead grandmothers birthday. I don't know what to make of it other than its a scam to get your social security number.

It's a scam!

Its not a scam, its a process server trying to find out where you are so they can serve you with a summons. I was served yesturday for a credit card bill. After I was served I tryed to call the company that was sueing me and just pay the darn thing off but they said it was too late and I would just have to go to court.

My call was due to a check that did not clear back in 2006 from an express check advance.  My concern is why didnt the company reach out to me at that time to resolve the issue?  Why wait 5 years to resolve a matter concerning a $170 check? I'm reaching out to my bank to see what's the deal here.  Any other thoughts? We need to get some lawyers on these websites to comment and add their feedback.

Okay I got a call too from a Ms Brown..she said she was coming by my residence today no show however this morning I got the exact same message as yesterday that she was coming to either my work or home......  I did contact an attorney and a debt collector help line and they  both said she is probably a scam.   She never left the name of her business on my machine.

The name of that company is Portfolio Recovery Associates also known as NCO.
