Received a letter from GE Money Bank claiming that someone opened CHEVRON Visa under my name. This is phishing indian company trying to get different info for verification purposes. Called 3 times, same guy always answers the phone. Beware!

I had the same letter except it was for Lowe's.  I checked online and bam!  Scam!!

Called 877.969.7566 regarding the letter I received from GE Capital Retail Bank regarding two accounts, one from Wal Mart and the other from Dillards.  The envelope and letter appeared generic and I ignored it at first, but I found both accounts on my credit report and decided to call.  

The representative had a heavy Spanish accent and said she would need my phone number to help me get a identity theft claim started.  As she was searching her "database" to see if the thief created the account online or in person I Googled the phone number and found this forum!  I hung up immediately while she was speaking mid sentence!

I received a letter left at my doorstep with this phone number to call. In this case it indicated an account was opened in my name for an Amazon.com store card account. It looks like this number has been used in various scam attempts. I am wondering why it cannot be tracked by authorities and the people put where they belong.

Got one for PayPal. I have had problems in the past so I almost called. So glad I found this!!!

Same here, only for a GAP Visa. Letter by mail with phone # to call. Beware of phishy stuff!

Got a letter from Ebates Cash Back Visa / Synchrony Bank.  Had a fictional name with our address.

It looks like this scam has been going on for years.  So not only do we have to endure scam phone calls, we also have to receive letters as well.  Mine was for EBAY MASTERCARD and someone opening an account in my name.  But something didn't jive on the application, so I now must "contact them" to clarify.
