These people have called my number 5 times - 7/16/08, 7/15, 7/11 (2x), 7/8. One more call and I am reporting them to the State of CT. The person they are looking for is NOT at this number.

Yes, The Evil Northland Group, Ghost Debt Collectors at their Finest.
Will call over and over again to drive you insane. You can send them a letter and get them to stop just search for fair debt collection practices on the net, have form letters to get them to stop. Just Do it, This Co. Sucks.....

Thanks to other postings here I finally found out who this number belongs to. I figured it was a bill collector.

i keep getting phone calls because I assumed a phone number when i took this job 2 years ago.  The guy who used to have this number was listed as the State contact on a grant application.  I don't know what the grant was for, but i get the impression there were some unpaid bills for this grantee and the people at this number are trying to get the state to pay for it.  I had sympathy the first time and sent them to a financial office for the State, just in case we did owe money.  Now they are just annoying.

Started calling again, but no message on machine.  SCUMBAG COLLECTION AGENCY that buys up old debts for pennies on the dollar and tries to collect. They’re looking for someone with the same last name as mine that doesn’t live here. They appear to collect any & all phone numbers that MAY BE related to the person they are trying to collect from and hound the hell out of everyone of them. These [***] and many others have been calling me on and off for at least six years. When one gives up another one starts. Will these people stop at nothing . . . How horrible must it be to work for one of these two-bit debt collectors. Could you imagine spending all day on the phone calling "last known numbers" and "friends of friends". No Northland, I have horrible credit already and am not interested in fixing it any more, so that pretty much means YOU'RE OUTTA LUCK, JACK!!!!!!  Go bother some hapless sap who still gives a _ _ _ _ about their credit. I have found that since I "can't get credit" anymore, life is alot less stressful. If I don't have the cash to pay for it, it don't exist to me. If my car breaks down and I can't afford to fix it for 2-3 weeks, I WALK. I can't remember the last time I lost any sleep woring about "paying the bills" because I don't have any anymore. And as for those old debts or the ones that I just refuse to pay, I consider this my own personal financial bail-out (I figure if the automakers, banks, investment companies, and CREDIT CARD COMPANIES can get bailed-out by the gov., then I will take matters into my own hands and bail myself out). Maybe I'm warped, but it works for me.

I keep getting calls form this number asking for someone we do not know, not leaving a message and now they are getting clever and the phone number on the caller ID does not appear. They call at all hours of the day, any day of the week.  They dared to call on Sunday at 8:45 pm! my husband and I go to work very early in the morning and we are in bed by 8 pm.
Help! is there anyway we can stop these calls?

Messing with the wrong person here...they called asking for my ex-spouse. I told them they had the wrong number but they have failed to stop calling which is a FDCPA violation.  $1000 for each time they call....getting an attorney as I type.  Boo-Ya

Please stop calling.  The BBB has been made aware of the harassment phone calls, and yes they will take action.  Dealing with a pastor/attorney is absolutely the wrong person to harass.  Obviously, the person whose phone number I got was in a financial pickle.  Leave me and my family alone, we are upstanding non-pickle jar people who borrow money on credit. We have always practiced life the way Jim Burkett taught us, which is obviously something your company should research.

These jokers break the law right and left.  They recently called my office about a vehicle debt that was from 10 years ago that was on a VAN that was repossessed and the account closed 9 years ago.  The man pretended to be an attorney and was trying to tell me that the latest charge off was less than 3 years ago and that they were going to sue me if I did make some sort of payment.  I was curious about this guy wondering what kind of drugs he was using.  I looked up the account and found  that TD Auto Finance had purchased this old debt from a line of six different financial collectors dating all the way back to GMAC who had the loan 9 years ago.   There were 7 charge off dates with the last one 2 and 1\2 years ago.  Rather than using the last payment date from 9 years ago he was using the last charge off date from TD Auto finance. These people are not only annoying but incredibly stupid

These people are pretty dumb. They are sending letters for the former owner of our house, he was foreclosed on in 2003 and has not lived here since. I just write on the letters not at address for 10 years, and send them back. A month later they send another one. I can't even keep track of how many they have send and Ive returned.

I get a call from 888-226-1843, but ring once then nothing.  I answered the call once because I'm so annoyed that this people call me at least 3-5 times a day.  I get it, I do have some debt that I need to handle, but when I called these debt collector to settle my debt issue, they asked for my SSN, because for some reason they do not have my account number.  When I provided them with my account number, I was informed that they cannot find that number so my SSN would be more appropriate.  AH, NOT!!!  I agree with "Innocent As Ever", I also have horrible credit already and am not interested in fixing it any more, since I'm not sure if these debt collectors are legit.  So THEY ARE OUTTA LUCK, JACK!!!!!!  

Called me today and on the 45-second voicemail there was obviously someone there (could hear them typing and breathing), but they did not leave a message.
