I received a letter with the following letter head:
MORTGAGE AUDITING PROGRAM, DIVISION OF CONSUMER SERVICES
    and a Notice Expiration date.

It asks me to call 888-251-6057 and reference a case number in the letter, RE: MORTGAGE AUDIT NOTICE.  It recites the original amount of my mortgage and says I may be entitled to a refund due to miscalculation of monthly mortgage payment.

Return address is 10808 S. River Front Parkway, Suite 300, South Jordan, UT 84095

Sound like a scam to me.  Anyone know what this is about?

Yes, it's a scam I've following for a while and trying to warn people about it. Read Anonymous' 30 Apr 2012 post here https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-251-6057 where he has many good links. If you want the real details on this scam, read my 8 Apr 2012 post here https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8552408593#p378409069894258328 which has the most recent info that I know of (the scam has evolved from when it first started). Everyone should stay away from this horrible scam.

I called the number and asked who they were associated with and they stated the Utah Attorney Generals Office.  I asked if I could do some research and get back to them and they replied, yes.  I sent an e-mail to the Better Business Bureau of Utah and called the Utah Attorney Generals Office to which I found out they are NOT associated with the Attorney Generals Office so I faxed the letter to the office for further research to ,hopefully, end this scam.

Hey you all. Thanks very much. I got the same leter, same return address, and same claim of eligibility for a refund on my mortgage. Since the letter was not on letterhead, nor was it signed, etc., etc., I found this site and am now better informed.  Thanks again.

I knew it,!!!!!!!!! but it is sad that there are companies out there just to get your money.   The economy is hitting hard this year of 2012 and they try to get you where it hurt the most.  Hearing that you might be getting money back  sounds like the answer to your troubles, but don't count on it. These people are out to get whatever money you have left.  The goverment should do something about this.
There are a lot of seniors and young couples starting out and having financial troubles.  These people should be fine and their business should be shut down.

I just got the letter informing us of a possible refund as well.  It didn't sound right to me so I didn't call, but then received a call about an hour ago about the same thing.  As if we don't have enough problems we have jerks like this bothering everyone.  Just makes me sick!

Thanks for the info! Received a letter in the mail and just called and spoke to Tamara @ 1-888-251-6057 ext. 5418. She was so convincing that the $299 would be so worth it by looking at the thousands of dollars I could potentially be receiving back! What conartists'! I despise scammers! God don't like ugly! I will be reporting them to the BBB today!!! Thanks again.

Got that same letter.. thanks to google and a little digging I found this website. I called them and blocked my number prior to calling trying to obtain more info from them without them grabbing my home phone number.. you can do this by dialling * 67 my estimated wait time in that case was more than 12 mins.

Ill be sharing this site on facebook! Thanks for creating it!

AFAIK *67 does not hide your number when you call toll-free numbers. Toll-frees pay for incoming calls and are entitled to collect incoming numbers. Gotta call from a pay phone.

Here's the latest warning from Northern Indiana BBB on AMT Auditing Services http://northernindiana.bbb.org/article/AMT-Au ... -Tell-BBB-34231 that reports slow or no audit refunds and the mysterious $49.95 charge that appears EVERY MONTH on your credit card (for the 30to8 Debt Software they sign you up for behind your back when you buy the audit).
