    812s
    Voice message left from telemarketer.

"Hey guys, I will send that more here. Hate. We spoke on the phone last week about possibly trying to lower your interest rate their reducing your monthly payment on your credit card so I wanted to get back and let you know that I did find a solution. We've got a program I can lower the interest rates to as low as 1.5% and possibly tell your mother payment in half and see if you are only making the minimum payments. This would be great opportunity for yet. This'll be my last courtesy call today. So gimme a ring at 1(888) 261-4660 Thanks."

I got basically the same message as 812s.  The phone rings directly to a voicemail stating that their office is currently closed, even if you call during the business hours that the message lists.  It doesn't give the company's name.

Received a call from a lady at this number. She did not state her name or company she was calling from and it seemed as if the phone started to record her mid-sentence. She was speaking about "lowering the interest rate as we had previously discussed" and that I needed to call her back ASAP at 888-261-4660 as this was going to be her last message.

Called the number back and a lady answered it, "Consumer Debt Helpline, how can I help you?" without stating her name. I told her I got a call about interest rates yet I had never contacted them. She asked me if I was currently paying high interest rates on any of my credit cards and I said, "no, not really." The answerer then stated, "well it was probably a misdial. Please disregard that message." And then she hung up.

Consumer Debt Helpline....a very generic name indeed. Most likely a scam.

Same as everyone else. Voicemail from lady claiming we spoke last week, offering to lower credit card rates (Had never spoken with them or anyone else for that matter regarding this). Incoming call was from: 612-808-9725.

Called the 888 number left in the voicemail. A lady answered without stating her or company name. Wanted to know my number so she can inform the agent to not call me. When I refused, she wanted to know if my credit rates were higher than 12%. When asked what company is this she answered 'Consumer Debt something'  and when I further asked how did you guys get my number she said we are helping one of our clients with reduced interest rates and your number must have been dialed in error. She again wanted to know the number where I received the call so she could 'look it up'. Upon refusing one more time, she requested to at least have the area code so she correct the problem. I gave her my area code, she thanked me and hung up.

Not sure how she was going to correct the problem just from the area code.

Received a voicemail on my cell phone which is on the do-not-call registry.

"Hey guys, (Audry? couldn't make out her name) here. We spoke on the phone last week about possibly trying to lower your interest rate and reducing your monthly payment on your credit card so I wanted to get back and let you know that I did find a solution. We've got a program I can lower the interest rates to as low as 1.5% and possibly cut your monthly payment in half and since i see you are only making the minimum payments this would be great opportunity for yet. This'll be my last courtesy call today. So gimme a ring at 1(888) 261-4660 Thanks."

I do not have any credit cards and have not spoken to anyone regarding interest rate reduction, so this entire message is an outright lie.

I called the number back.  A woman named "Robin Wright" said "thank you for calling Consumer Debt" but refused to speak to me if I would not give her my full name and phone number.  I refused and she hung up.  I called back and asked to speak her her supervisor.  I was transferred to a voicemail that did not include a person's name.

got the same exact message from "allison able". i called back and talked to another lady. she claimed they were a non-profit named "Credit Help Line". supposedly they would be able to get my $7500/16.99%int. debt down to a flat $224/mnth@9.99%int. it was really tempting. i gave her my name and #(which she obviously already had) but she said she could not mail or email me any information about the terms of the agreement before i signed on. really......?     gotta be a scam. but i would love for some one to prove me wrong. the deal would save me some dough.

    They got my cell phone!
Same number called my cell phone!  And I don't even have what they are talking about.  Telemarketers calling my home number is annoying enough and now calling my cell phone?!?!?  What goes around comes around and these people better be careful how they do business because it's predatory and unethical.

Quite simple, really. Area codes and the first three digits of your phone number are published. Then all a spammer has to do is dial the last four digits, beginning with 0000. On the way to 9999, your number is bound to pop up. Essentially, the spammer doesn't know your number but is dialing through all of the numbers. Of course, when you answer or return their call, they then KNOW your number.

    Donotcallme
Got the same message as other folks. Just from a) fact that she did not leave her name or introduce the company b) using very informal language c) comparing everyone else's experience I would judge this call to be of the spammer/phishing type where someone is trying to get you to give them your credit card information. When I dialed for phone information on my message machine it traced the call to be coming from 406-478-2009
