Report a phone call from 888-277-6280 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- DM| 2 repliesI called the number on the back of my credit card and had them transfer me to the fraud prevention department. The fraud department said 888-277-6280 is a scam; it's not one of their numbers and there are no fraud problems on my account.
- Caller: scam
- MattCompany called me and wanted my credit card number. really annoying and i assume people fall for this stuff. Get a job.
- Alexgot two calls from them. I've been applying to jobs in AZ and they're filled with scams, I'm guessing that's how they got my number but I'll check my VM and see what they have to say.
- KP| 1 replyGot a voicemail from this number saying it was the Visa Fraud department on behalf of my bank and wanted to verify some charges and to call back the 888 number with a case number given to me or my CC number. I called the number on the back of my card, and he said there was nothing wrong with my account. And he would give the 888-277-6280 number to anti fraud department. Well he called me back about 5 minutes later and said that this number is a legit number. But I didn't have to take any further actions. When in doubt call your bank first.
- Caller: Visa Fraud
- DevonI got 4 calls from the number and one voice message with a case number. Yes I was suspicious so I entered the case number and waited until I could speak to someone there. They were holding a purchase I made last night online that was larger than usual. They didn't ask for any personal info, just verified that I had made a purchase for X amount to Y Merchant. This is not a scam.

- Dane KThis was VISA Fraud protection. I held on the line and a customer service agent started asking me for my personal information. I'm sorry, if you're the fraud department and you think the way to fight fraud is to call random customers and ask them for their personal information, you're actually opening yourselves up to be a victim of fraud in the future. At the point that you give customers an expectation that they'll ever receive a call from their financial institution and have to validate that the person the bank called is the customer by asking them their personal information, you're toast. Any Joe Schmoe can call anyone else up and pretend they're VISA to get the same information. Also, even if you look up the number by caller ID and find a site like this, that doesn't prove anything phone numbers can be spoofed (there are even web sites for it to make it really easy to do). So even if you think it's 888-277-6280 it's possible that our caller ID has been tricked (really, it is).
I'm a customer of Charles Schwab and that's the card they were calling about, but Schwab themselves told me it isn't them it was VISA.
I talked to VISA and they said that they never would call customers up, but Schwab themselves told me they do it all the time.
DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION if they call you. Do not even give them your last name. Do not give them your date of birth. Don't play into this game.
If you have a legit concern, call the number on the back of your actual credit card or you bank's main customer service #, don't call a number that someone left you on a voicemail.- Caller: VISA Fraud Department
- Randy CrabbAutomated message said they were Schwab Visa Fraud Prevention Services but anybody could say that. I called Schwab directly (number on the back of the card) and asked them to transfer me to Visa Fraud Prevention Services. They did and gave me the number which was the same as this one.
Not exactly good form to condition people to give credit card number, last 4 digits of SSN, etc. to an automated message but this seems to be a legit number. You should still call the number yourself as opposed to just picking up because caller ID can be spoofed.- Caller: Schwab
- Joseph LinaschkeBased off these comments of fraud I called my bank directly, and it turns out it was a legitimate call. So yes, this number really is for VISA Fraud Prevention Services. But as other have stated, call your bank directly if in doubt. Better safe than sorry.
- Caller: VISA Fraud Prevention Services
- JaySchwab fraud protection automated system calling to ask if I just made a $300 purchase at a Lego store. I didn't. The system put a block on my account and told me to call customer service at the number on the back of the card to arrange for a new card to be sent. When I called back to get a new card, they asked for a lot more information than the automated system does, he verified that there was a block put on the account by the automated system, and then in less than 5 minutes I had a new card being sent to me.

- djCaller said it was "fraud prevention" and from Charles Schwab and to call the number listed. Professional pre-recorded voice (no accent, unlike others we've seen). Thought you might want to be aware of this. A call to Charles Schwab said this wasn't a valid call and it was a scam.
- Caller: Charles Schwab
- LI called my bank, it's a scam. It said it was the fraud dept. and they needed to verify purchases, but my bank said their fraud dept had no tickets or activity they needed to check, and none of my activity was unusual.
- JRecieved both a text message and a phone call. I ignored the given numbers and called my card issuer. It’s legit. They stoped a fraudulent transaction and locked my account. Don’t ignore this, but be smart call the number on the back of your card and ask for the fraud department.
- NSchwab Visa Fraud prevention. I called the main Schwab number back just to make sure it wasnt a scam call, and it was a legit fraud notification.

- SteveThis is legit, It's Charles Schwab Banks Fraud Department. They never asked for a card number, did ask to verify the last 4 of my debit card which they read back to me. It was an automated system asking to verify one of the charges on my debit card, charge was valid but appreciate them checking in.
