Mindless telemarketer "Cindy" calling from the "Verification Center (extension 696)".  The fool was so distracted that she didn't hear the answering machine pick up, and started her monologue twice during the answering machine recording before finally speaking a third time to leave the message (we have call screening,  so heard the whole thing, lol).  Har Har, she has "...some VERY good news" because the 'entry form' we filled out to win a $50,000 home makeover at "one of our shopping malls, movie theatres, or online within the last twelve months" was drawn last night!  Imagine that!  This is particularly amazing, because we NEVER fill out such forms and we don't want a home makeover!  Magic happens, folks, 'Cindy' is here to let us know they have drawn an entry form created out of thin air!

Thanks anyway 'Cindy', scumbucket scammer preying on the gullible.  Karma's a b!tch and I hope you get yours soon.

Cindy also called our  house and left the identical message just not as poorly this time. Got my hopes up for about a second. Don't need this when my toddler is trying to take a nap.

Got the same per recorded message and called back to see what the scam was. The guy who answered was so obviously shady when I questioned him he made a sarcastic comment that for every person who doesn't want to win the home makeover there are millions of others who do and before I could say anything he hung up on me.  [***] losers. Who is dumb enough to fall for this crap!

    Not That Stupid
Yes, We just got the EXACT SAME message from exact same person calling from (888)303-0232.  I'm certainly someone who wants a $50,000 home makeover but knew it couldn't be true.  Thanks everyone for posting this information to save me from thinking about it for more than a few seconds.   The scam continues...

Cindy called us too.  I usually don't sign up for drawings, knowing that they're going call anyway with some kind of sales pitch.  I googled the phone number and this what I found.

    Never
Since I did enter an online contest I thought I'd call back.  I know enough when to give more info and when not to.  Conveniently, Cindy had just stepped into a meeting but the person who answered said she could help me, all I would have to do is verify some information.  So before I gave out any more information I asked about the company and how it was that I "won".  Well of course she pointed out that I didn't win anything yet and of course upon further review my name was "pulled".  So I pointed out that of course I was suspicious and she just wanted to confirm my information.  For what?  Who are you?  No answer.  Click, she hung up on me.  Tried calling back, figuring maybe, just maybe, we were accidentally disconnected.  This time they didn't answer.

Got a message on my answering machine from "Cindy" that I won a $1000 home makeover gift from an entry I left last year at a shopping mall or movie theater.  Call me back at 8083030232 ext 696 to claim my prize.

Now I was suspicious because I stopped filling out those mall "giveaways" years ago when that ploy was used to slam your phone bill by changing your long distance carrier because of the fine print that I did not read.

I checked online and , sure enough, "Cindy" has called others with a similar "come-on", only today she's using a much more believable $1000 not $50,000  for bait.  Who's going to remember filling out a card a year ago?  I must say, the telemarketers are smart and are evolving new strategies all the time.

    Great News
Silly Cindy called us too! We won a 50,000 house make over. I am calling back to let her know she can just send a certified bank check and I will handle the make over myself. I am so excited.

Thank you all!!! So glad the internet provides a place to vent... I agree with everyone... just feel sorry for the elderly who might buy the scam

It isn't only the elderly who might buy the scam. There are gullible people of all ages.

I strongly suggest that each of us file a report with the Do Not Call registry. If they have enough complaints, perhaps they will be moved to action.

I, too, received a call from 1-888-300-5761 and the oh-so-mysterious Cindy, congratulating me about my win and asking me to call back immediately to 1-888-303-0232, Ext. 696.

I won't bother calling back, and I have already filed a report with the FTC.

    Cool
I too got a message from "Cindy". Caller ID shows 888-300-5761, but she said to call her back on 888-303-0232, ext. 696 (Same exact message as everyone else here.) I have not filled out ANY of those scam contests at malls, etc., because they are all telemarketing ploys, so I immediately knew it was a big lie.

Got a call from "Cindy" from the "verification center" that we had won a home makeover from one of our entries at the mall or one of their movie theaters. I do enter raffles and such, but I'm glad I looked this up first before I called back because sometimes I know once you call them back and they have your # they can reverse the charges and you have to pay for the call.
