A comment if I may: I just opened my credit card statement. On it is a transaction posting for "Payment Protector 1-888-314-4371". There is also a charge for $.47 attached to this posting. Does anyone know what this is all about? My plan is to dispute this charge with my card company. Thanks for any info you can provide.  tls

It's CHASE protection plan.   I was paying 80$ a month w/out knowing. It's based on how much you owe.

I'D CANCEL!!!! Find a way to make cheap payments. It offers a service to stop credit card payments if something bad happens. One person I read about was in an accident and had to keep submitting paper work and couldn't one time, so they sent all the money to a collection agency and now the person is screwed!

Call the number and cancel it is my advice.

I keep receiving calls and was not sure why, now I know how it is.

But I must say that it is a great benefit.  I received four months of no payments and no interest right after I got married.  I think they are now calling to tell me that the benefit has expired.  Last year, I was out of work for 3 wks and only provided Dr's contact and details on my surgery - 2 months no payments.  You can take one "holiday" a year with no payment for one month.

I don't do this on all my cards, but Chase has one of the best benefits and it has come in handy.  Other programs like this may defer a payment, but interest still accrues.

It is Chase Payment Protector and yes they can be very sneaky and I must admit I was ticked the first time I realized I was paying for it. But I have to say that it has been very helpful in helping me to get my card paid off. Like the above comment states it can be handy in dire money situations, the no interest thing is pretty awesome. I was really pissed at Chase for a long time but I can see the perks of this plan, just be careful!!! The fee you pay depends on your balance which I think it what gets people. High balance = high payments. Use it wisely! But if you get the card paid off, you don't pay the fee!

It is Chase Payment Protector Plan associated with Chase credit card.  They were charging me about 1% of the balance every month, so I called to cancel the service and declined all offers they had to keep my business.  The day after I cancelled I got multiple calls from this number.  It's probably automated, as when I answer, there is no one on the line.

I guess this place answered my question. I saw someone had called me from this number but left no message. My sister recently called them for me and told them I never signed up for this(which is true, apparently they've been charging me since 2009 without my permission) and the lady was actually very nice and told her they're refunding me all payments since 2009+interest! Whether or not they'll actually do it we'll see. They told her it would be a few statements before the new balance would show.

If anyone here has been being charged without actually signing up for this service, make sure to try for a refund.

I lost my job after 13 and 1/2 years and i have had the payment protector for many, many years  Never thought I'd need it, but now I do. They work with you on your payments, from nothing to less than minimum. The way the economy is now, I would recommend it. Like I said, have had it for a long time and it has paid off
