The company is called Allied Interstate. They call, me and my wife several times a day. Neither of us owe a dime and monitor our credit actively. I suspect its a very old debt that has passed the statute of limitations. Based on my research, this number typically chases people for money from really old debts (like 10+ years) that has already been written off by companies (meaning they got their money back in the form of a tax write-off.) Allied Interstate buys the rights to this old debt in hopes of making some extra cash. They've had multiple lawsuits against them and are known for harassing peoples neighbors and relatives in an attempt to track people down. That's a new practice for a lot of these companies. They'll even chase after widows for 20 year old debts from their deceased spouse.

Just do what I did. Tell them it's not your debt. Tell them they're not allowed to contact you on this phone number anymore. If you can, record the phone call and make sure you say or they say the company name and date on the call and reference the debt. Then take said recording (or not if you don't have it) and file charges with your state's attorney general's office.

These people are calling me at 7am!!!! Isn't that illegal?

not stop calls from this # 888 316 6088. reported to local police about these calls. been adviced to track the calls in preperation to make a case. i would suggest anyone do the same.

Called at 10:38 PM and 11:45 PM on Feb 3rd.  No message left.  No Credit issues or unpaid debts.

Twice today. 5:52pm at dinner and now at 11:23pm

this number 888-316-6088 keeps ringing in on my phone.  do not answer the call

They seemed to be a call center from another country/heavy accent, couldn't say my name right, so I just said I wasn't interested in anything they were selling and hung up. They didn't call back. I see other people identify them as debt collectors, but I don't owe any debts (unless it's from my ex-spouse's side that was settled in a divorce in '95). And you'd think that if they were debt collectors rather than solicitors they'd call back, but they haven't so--who knows.

I just call a call from these guys about some supposed debt for non-payment on a Balley's gym contract from back in 1998.  They said I owed something like $2,300.  First I'm hearing about this, ever.  They said they sent me notification...and then gave me a Wellsley, MA address where i lived maybe 10-15 years ago??  Anyways, I keep a close eye on my credit reports, and this has never been on it.  Besides, when I did belong to Balley's - in Worcester - I don't recall ever being sent a bill for non-payment of any sort.  These guys are a joke, but it still makes me nervous that they're gonna try to mess around with my credit report (even though I don't think they can), or start harrassing me non-stop.  I'll sue THEM if that happens.

Today, is the first time a call came in from this number.  Caller ID just showed the number.  I didn't answer.  No message was left.

Recived a call and they hung up on my answering machine. I called them back, sounded like I got Bin Laden's cave in pakastan. They asked my name, I asked well who are you calling. Then they said oh we called you by mistake. WTF? Where did they get my number from?  have no debts. I told him if I get a call again I will sue and I will call the better business bureau. Why do our corporations let foreigners have access to our private data!  Outsourcing to foreign countries is what killed our economy! They need to stick to slurpees

888-316-6088 has been calling my cell phone a few times a day and never leave a message.  My number is registered on the do not call list and I can't think of a legitimate company that would call my cell phone about anything.

Some guy with a heavy East Indian accent said he was calling for 'Michael'. It must be some debt from the previous owner of the phone number.

I looked for Allied Interstate in the phone directory. the phone number 866 578-4773 is for the same company in AZ but has the address of 3000 CORPORATE EXCHANGE DR
COLUMBUS,  OH  43231-7689 (866) 578-4773. I can't figure out how to document violations of DNC if I can't figure out what the company/ location is.

advocacy group huh - why because of the recent ftc suit against them to see if they are complying?  well i can tell you they are not.  they still call on sol expired, federal reporting period expired, whatever else expired.  The law now says they must also state this in the call and that a person can no longer be legally sued for a sol expired item - and yes defenses to this will be raised and they illegally re-age (also in the suit) and they have made contact so by law where is the letter(s) that should also be sent within 5 days hmmmm?  My attorney would love a copy of it.

There is no point in paying this allied interstate so called liquid cash collection agency or any other one your credit is screwed anyway regardless of the lies they tell you. They buy these accounts for pennies on the dollar and anything they get over that they keep as profit. it stays on your credit and  they sell it to another company and it starts all over again. So save your money
